I have tried to back test using the MT4 strategy tester. I have set the period to go back 3 months but the tester only goes back about 1 week. I have tried it on a number of pairs but the resluts always show only the last weeks results.
What am I doing wrong?

The problem is related to your data. Strategy Tester can only work with the data that is available. Usually the problem is with the broker and some are terrible at providing clean historical data. So you could try it on another broker’s demo. Another option is to import historical data on your broker’s demo. Access the History Center on the Tools menu and make the appropriate selection. Some people have suggested changing the number of history records to a large number, but I have found that is no help at all.

I have MT4 from 4 different brokers including Alpari from which I had down loaded their historical data. None of them give me the results on more than 4 trades. The time period was 3 months on an EA that trades about 8 times per week. I should have seen about 100 trades over the period.
When I bring up the chart it seems all the data is there.
Are their any other strategy testers out their for MetaTrader4

The quirks in Strategy Tester can drive you crazy, but I usually only have problems with one broker or solve them by downloading historical data.
I have seen alternatives to Strategy Tester discussed in the forums lately and I can’t remember which one. Probably FF or TSD.
