I will most likely need to shift my day trading to more swing trading being that I am in school full time and unable to be at my computer throughout the day. Are there services, or trading systems out there that focus more on swing or position trading so that I don’t need to be at my computer all the time. I am only able to analyze charts just before the US open, and just before the Asian session open. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I’ll bite, as I’m developing a swing trading style as well.
I find that the more I read about swing trading the more I come across things like price action, support/resistance, trend trading and less use of indicators.
I’m personally trading with trend lines/channels and stochastics (10,3,3) on the daily charts. The main indicator I use is the SHI channel indicator although it can sometimes draw the trend channels/lines wrong.
I found a really helpful website that is all about fx swing trading is this one here:
And the methodology I’m reading up on now which is really quite advanced and very in depth is here:
be warned - it’s not a mechanical system dependant on indicators. In fact a lot of stuff I’m reading up on now is geared at reading the charts without any indicators at all.
Hope that all helps. I’m only beginning to find out how much I need to learn…
At the risk of incurring the admin’s wrath, I suggest you jump over to forexfactory and look for “Jankone 5M Thread” Buried in there someplace is a pdf regarding pin bars, two pdfs in fact. Read the Intro one 2X and then demo on 4H. In fact I recommend you ignore the 5M strategy altogether unless you really like the stress and strain of that kind of trading but do learn about pin bars. Catching one at a swing high or low is many pips in the making. A D. TL on a 4H chart is all you need. Daily is good too but SLs are big and can get hit. My .02 cts. d.
