Testing a "new" system

T.T.T. (Total Trades Triggered): 5 out of 14.

TOTAL P/L for the five days:

157.5.

24 trades triggered out of 70 (=34%).

A good week, marking a positive end to the third test week for this strategy.

Have a nice weekend.

A black swan event is an unpredictable, seemingly random event that defies all attempts to predict it. The term was popularised by Nassim Nicholas Taleb in his book The Black Swann. Great book actually.

BTW Pipmehappy,

Good results, long may it last and good luck going forward.

So far so good! Keep us posted! And let me know if you’ve mechanized this or made an EA. Robopip’s itching to backtest and forward test this one.

Ok just one point here, You want to place multiple trades, on the same setup, with Arbitrary Numbers, No Signals (so no previous pattern to follow)… and you want to risk 10% per trade. so after you place 10 trades you will be leveraged to the hilt and risking your entire float? to me that seems extremely risky, and high change of Ruin. (very quickly).

Hello PaulaElli, I am afraid my strategy as highlighted at the beginning of this thread has changed quite a bit, and to see the changes you would have to open my pdf attachments… My risk/reward ratio is an average of 1/2.5, so the 2k per trade, even if all trades (14) were triggered and went in the red, I would not be worried, as, for example, a 100 pip loss would set me back 20 USD… So my maximum drawdown would never, realistically, be more than 50 USD, and that would be an absolutely Black Swan event, to quote “DayTrader”… but, but, but, I am never complacent, so I hold my hands up and if I get it badly wrong, then I will at least have a system to review

Hello PipDiddy… As I am still at tweaking stage, I am keeping it manual… I would love to EA-it once I can get more data on the final version of the system…

Should I ask for this thread to be moved to the Trading Systems forum?

Nah, you will be fine … If it needs to be, they’ve already moved this thread…

So far so good… Keep it up!

Thank you, PipNRoll.

How is your own trading going?

Doing good… I still do manual trades… Looking forward for a positive month. Finally, I was able to get back in after 2 months of a lose. Slowly and steady. Reviewing my performance this year compare to last year when I first started, I am Progressing quite a bit and I am getting better this year than before in which what my goal is and what I was hoping for entering in 2 years doing trading…

I cant wait for my 3 rd year when finally will start to banking it :)…Looking forward to this FOMC meeting…

Thanks for asking

Same, good luck hunni
I kick myself now with the silly mistakes I used to make when I first went live
With good money management/technical/fundamental plus trader sentiment analysis, I have found it gives a little more of an edge…
Happy pipping darling xx

Thank you Kim…

Yes, it takes time for sure. What you outline is true. Also, If you are able to review your performance week in and week out even monthly, you will see the pattern of your habits, mistakes, and what you need to work on… Specially if you have that massive drawdown. I was really happy and feel more confident when I was able to get back for what I have lose and now I can focus on to making profit… It took me just 2 weeks or so to lose all my profits but it took me 2 months to get it back… It’s fascinating. I am learning more about myself than my strategy lol… well that’s how I feel.

You too Kim… Good-luck. Hang in there…

Me too sweety I blew my account down to £33, taken me 2 months to get it up to £235. Averaging 5-15% profit each week. Trick is to stay patient/calm… You too sweety pie, hang on in there, I believe that good things eventually come to good people  mwahhhhh xx

thank you for your input, PipNRoll, and Kymberly!

Two months is 8 weeks… 10% (your average weekly gain) of £33 compounded 8 times gives you a balance of £70.74… Not £235

GOOD BYE… MWAHHHHH x

Don’t worry… I’m sure you’ll get there

Here’s a good interest rate calculator to help the confusion next time.
