hi all,
phil, chasing, lavaman, glad to hear you are all doing pretty good. i was not busy today, so i thought i would see what the 3:00 pm est time slot might provide. if not busy, i may come back to trading this time slot. especially, if continuing the one trade and done. ALSO, i am tweaking the system. i did as such with this trade. i am including someting that i dabbled with when trading the e/u. i did not like it much then, i think because the TP and S/L were closer together. today, it worked fairly well, i think. here is the tweak. with the new strategy, i move to break even at +10. from here on when moving to BE, i will also switch to a one minute chart. any close above the one minute, 8 ema will also get me to exit. i think this may enable me to salvage more pips when the TP is not hit. i think we may pick up on the reversal a little earlier. anyway, the afternoon’s trade.

last session of the week will be at 8:00 am est
hi all,
i had a tough time getting on baby pips this morning. all seems well now. this concludes the first week of the new system and i am quite pleased. i have gone back over the original goji system and i think chasing has still been using it and it seems to have turned back around and is working better than a week ago. i still believe in the system, but am enjoying the one and done feature of the new system. anyway, as it is the end of the week and the end of another month, i will try to give an inseption, 10-6-08 to date summary. first today’s second trade:
8:00 short, .6375
8:03 moved S/L to BE
8:14 m S/L to .6365
8:20 exit, .6352, TP, +23 +32
totals for the week by time:
2:00 +42
8:00 +84.5
3:00 +9, only one trade
7:00 +26
early march, total, +149.5 - goji system 2

enjoy your weekend each and everyone of you,

hi all,
HERE WE CHANGE AGAIN:
it is not a major change but i think it will give us something we have not had in our systems, to date, an actual target. here’s the change: (in use for march)
-
eliminate the 8 ema
-
add oanda’s new starc, with the following settings:
7 - 21 - 1.67
-
from here, use the current rules, using the mid line, 7 sma as the previous 8 ema
-
i added a 7 sma and changed the color to give me a different color from the channel.
-
if long, the upper channel line becomes my target, normally, a close above is what i am looking for
-
short is the opposite using the lower channel line
NOTE: the 8 ema and the 7 sma are very close to each other
IF YOU TRY THIS, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. I THINK IT IS A POSITIVE ADDITION. ALSO, I HAVE MOVED THE TP TO 51, AS I BELIEVE THIS ADDITION WILL ALLOW US TO STAY IN TRADES LONGER, THUS NAB MORE PIPS.
later,
goji, bernie
Hi Bernie,
So with this change now comes questions.
-
The middle line of the starc is over layed with the different color 7 sma correct?
-
Is this the line on the 5 min chart that you are waiting for a cross and close of?
-
What is the rule or how do you propose to trade a candle that opens and closes above the or below the 7 sma but also touches or even closes above the upper band or below the lower band?
Art
hi art,
i assumed there would be questions, so no problem. yes, the 7 sma will go right over top of the middle line in the starc, as that is what it is. remember the 7-21-1.67. the sevens are identical. you can not change just the middle line on the starc unless you do this. granted, it has nothing to do with the performance. when i back tested, the situation you ask about did not come up, however, i realize it could. the way i am going to play that is as a non-trade. as i have been looking this over though, there are many times that once price hits/closes over a top or under a bottom line, it tends to reverse in a candle or two. i am going to keep watching this as march, marches along. if this trend continues, we may be able to improve our entry positions also. we shall see. have a good weekend!

hi all,
DRUM ROLL: i am not counting this trade in the log and i know that one very good trade does not a system make. however, right now i am ecstatic. the trade: (and i will talk you through what i did.)
remain on five minute candle throughout trade. i am using the STARC.
7:40 long, .6309, THE 7:35 CANDLE CROSSED LOWER LINE SLIGHTLY AND THE 7:40 CANDLE OPENED CLEARLY ABOVE. MOVED TP TO 51, BUT WAS PREPARED TO MOVE IT HIGHER. S/L WAS AT 17.
8:10 moved S/L to BE
8:25 moved S/L to .6317
8:40 moved S/L to.6321, BOTTOM OF THE LONG CANDLE
8:45 moved S/L to .6343, BOTTOM OF THE PREVIOUS CANDLE
8:50 moved S/L to .6348, BOTTOM OF PREVIOUS CANDLE
8:54 exit, .6348, I AM NOT COUNTING THIS 39 PIP PROFIT IN THE LOG BECAUSE I DID NOT IDENTIFY WHAT I WAS GOING TO DO AHEAD OF TIME, THOUGH I MAY HAVE HINTED AT IT, IN MY LAST POST TO EZ.
well, that was my one and done for now and i should be back at 2:00 am

Hi Bernie
I have been reading this thread and your goji system with interest. Watching you trade is a good learning experience for me. Thanks. Also, the latest change looks promising.
I was looking through the latest trade that you made at 7.40 pm. It seems the entry was made when the candle crossed up the lower line and not the median line i.e. 7 sma. Was wondering if it contradicts the entry rule? If I am wrong, please just ignore it.
Many thanks
hi all, minimum,
you are right from what i indicated in my initial post on the change. please re-read my response to EZ. i thought i saw something interesting shaping up and decided to trade that this evening, 7:00 pm. that i did this is exactly why i didn’t count the pips in my log. that is, i hadn’t identified what i did ahead of time. i did take the trade, however, exactly as i indicated. now the 2:00 am trade. there was a set up just prior to 2:00 am. I DIDN’T TAKE IT. in the last couple of weeks trading the 2:00 am open, i have noticed that the a/u tends to jump around right at the 2:00 am open. thus, i waited and watched the 2:00 am candle turn green and cross above the upper line. i am going to go with this revised entry for this week. entry will be after a cross and close below the lower line or over the upper line, we will enter on the RE-CROSS and CLOSE in the opposite direction. therefore, compare this to the actual trades, here and above: (feel free to ask questions)
2:15 short, .6372
2:35 exit, .6347, +25
goodnight, see you at 8:00 am
goji, bernie
Hi Bernie
Thanks for clarifying. Makes sense now. Seems logical that once the price moves too far off from the mean, it should revert back. It’d be interesting to compare ealier results with this entry set up.
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is STARC.
Regards
hi all,
starc stands for, STOLLER AVERAGE RANGE CHANNELS. it is a recent addition to oanda’s trading platform. when i did some backtesting with them several days ago, their use looked promising. it sill does.
today’s 8:00 am trade:
9:00 short at .6339, this is a slight break from the rules as i did not get an open and close on that candle. what i did get was a red candle moving away from the upper line, followed by a red candle that crossed the mid point line, which is the 7 sma. i decided i had waited long enough this moning and took that trade.
9:05 exit, .6330, the trade moved in my favor and i chose to take the nine pips at the end of the candle as it came close to the lower starc line. i then quit for the morning. +9, +34
march total, +34
see you at 3:00 pm,
goji, bernie

Hello Bernie, everyone.
I did not post yesterday, somehow did not find 2 minutes for that:)
I continue trading the original system.
Yesterday morning, again, was difficult for it (for me, at least:D), I feel lucky that I was able to get out of there with +8.

8:05 - 10X long at 1.2615 - took forever - exit at TP +13;

8:00 +9
3:00 +3
Thanks, Bernie, yes, I feel I’m getting better with the system, my winners are better than “+1”,:p, however, considering the previous experience, it’s kind of early to call it “success”
Oh, so as soon as I leave things start turning around!?
hi all,
lavaman, nice to hear from you. i hope things are well with you also. right now there seems to be little volitility witht the a/u, at the times i am trading any way. though i will not expand the 3:00, 7:00, pm and 2:00 AM times, i may start hanging around for a little longer at 8:00 am, we shall see.
