THE JOY OF CANDLESTICK TRADING - Part 2

Finally, a look at the main chart after exit. The oval shows the pattern based on which the trade was taken. The bigger box shows the overall play. This trade was running for more than 3 hours and i was not much worried as you can see there was a lot of selling pressure after we entered as was evident from the long upper wicks on most of the candles except for one green candle.

Welcome your thoughts !

I can never seem to find any signals so went to try and find this one on my charts, EUR/JPY on 25 minutes… I just cannot find it! I’ve posted up the chart I’m looking at so am I just being blind? (Probably the answer )

I used to follow a different thread on a different forum with a different Forex Strategy. They had a chatroom set up. Everyone would join the chatroom and they would discuss if certain patterns constituted a good entry, and gave each other a heads-up when a certain pattern showed up on a certain pair.

I think a chatroom would work quite well for this thread!

I tried out the babypips chatroom (scroll to the top to see the link), but was unimpressed. There is no audible noise when a new message is sent, which won’t work. There is usually a very short window after a pattern is recognized and the entry must be made. An audible alert is necessary in my opinion.

The alternate thread I mentioned uses Paltalk. This is good for a few reasons. The service is free, it has a web client so no download is necessary and it has voice support. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it for several reasons. The web client has a ridiculous amount of ads and the desktop client is the reason I moved to Linux (a rogue ad gave me malware).

There are a few other free sites we can use, or I can put a chat server on my old desktop specifically for this thread, but before I go through the trouble I need to know if anyone here would participate.

Thoughts?

Try another time frame, it should be right where that blue candle jumps up after the 14:15 time on your chart.

I was also pondering this and thought about how nice it’d be to have the most active traders in Skype so we can text chat Live or even enjoy the free voice conference calls that could go active or dormant based on the level of activity and participants throughout the day.

Skype was the first place I looked actually. Unfortunately, I could not figure out how to open/start a skype chat room! The way to do it (I think) is to have everyone download skype, set up a contact list and have everyone add each other.

It would be much more accessible (we would get more users) if everything were web-based, with the option for a client download if you wish.

Hi Dodge. Well that sounds just the ticket. I was thinking along the same lines myself. I know you mentioned how time is of the essence when looking to make an entry and you are right, but would it be possible to also have it set up that an email/SMS can be sent out as well? Sometimes people may not be in front of a PC but may still be able to take a trade if they get a message/email on their phone.

I’m in!

I would definitely be up for using this, although I’m not sure if there would be enough people on at the same time to make it viable. I can imagine there would be lots of time where theres just one person online but if its something that can just run in the background without people having to pay for webspace or whatever (Not too sure about this kind of thing!) I gues it would be a good idea for those times when there are a few people online at the same time

This would not be difficult to implement. Every cell phone can receive texts through an e-mail address. <[email protected]> or something.

It would be difficult to use however, because it relies on someone sending out a mass e-mail while staring at Forex charts, waiting for an entry.

Possible, yes. Reliable? We’ll see.

If my participation in the other chat room is any indication, I would keep it running 24/7, even while sleeping

Guys, I’ve installed the following to MT4:

Tymen STARC Bands.mq4
modified tymen extra.tpl
Husky_Double_starc.mq4
Period Conveter.mq4
WorkingHours.mq4
tymen_5_minutes.tpl

But I’ve read so much, I’ve forgotten what that all these were for! Can anyone refresh my memory? I’m looking to get everything perfectly set up for JoCT and the other Bollinger trading thread with one instance of MT4 before I replicate it three times over in Windows for the multiple instances of the platform.

Also, can anyone give me some color settings for the STARCs and Bollingers in MT4, as everything is black lines at the moment. I’d like to follow along with what is being described by those posting their trade examples and they often refer to colors.

My video explains how to do this.

YouTube - Setting up Tymen Starc Bands with MetaTrader 4

Simply add the tymen_5_minutes.tpl template to a 5 minute chart for a particular pair, then you can File -> Open Offline the other time periods.

Hi,

Any idea where I can download this indicator ?

Thanks.

Dear Friend,
I am not sure what time frame you are looking at ? However, the the trade that i took was at 14:25 GMT (I use IBFX). If you can scroll back to that time frame on a25m EUR/JPY chart for yesterday, you can find the pattern that formed (Prior two candles to this time frame formed the Bearish Engulf pattern). Let me know if you can find it or not.

If Tymen doesn’t have any objections, I’ll be posting information about the chat room dedicated to this thread later this weekend.

Will I be banned from babypips for posting this?

Dear Friends,

I too like the idea of having a voice chat room where we can discuss trade setups. I also wanted to know Tymen’s opinion on this. Not sure if guys who where there in the thread before us already has one running. In my opinion i found yahoo messenger to be reliable. I leave to Dodge and other guys to figure out what best can suit us. I am in GMT+5:30 (INDIA). It will be a great idea to have a room open 24 hours so people can come and go as per their time frames. Wonder what it takes to setup a room with quality voice. I use a broadband connection with unlimited upload and download. My laptop has 3 Gig RAM with 250 GB HDD running on Intel Dual Core processor. I hope this is good enough for the chatroom.

Check with the Administration before you embark on this.

They will not ban you but they may well delete your links!!

There is another problem which you people have not thought of - time zones!!

I will be asleep when you are awake!!
