I think there are a fair few people following this thread, like me but recently I haven’t paid as much attention to it as I initially did as it seems that you have to sit on the computer every few hours for half an hour in the hope that a trade might form, even with the 69 charts I had open!
But as I said before, I would be a prospective user of the chatroom/twitter/analyst thread type thing
I retract all previous complaints about the MT4 Starcs!
In the charts I posted above, the reason they were so off is because of the EMA vs SMA issue. I forgot I only fixed the MT4 Starcs for my AUD/USD pair. When I switched to that, the GFT and MT4 starcs are nearly identical. The MT4 Starcs seem to be a little more narrow when compared to the GFT Starcs, but that’s it.
I have updated the original ZIP file with the correct and fixed indicator here, along with an updated template file.
The included indicator uses SMA instead of EMA, and has the shift = 0 for updates on every tick. It also has the period converters setup automatically for these extra time-frames: 20m 25m 35m 45m. Simply apply the “tymen_5_minutes” template to a 5 minute chart for a pair to activate the appropriate “offline charts”.
Here again is my video walkthrough of this process:
YouTube - Setting up Tymen Starc Bands with MetaTrader 4
Here are the screenshot comparisons:
First is MT4, next is GFT
Have FUN!
Period_Converter.zip (15.2 KB)
i am not able to setup period converter for MT4. is there any video available for setting this up?
dodge,
i followed up your you tube video to setup tymen starc band and period converters.
my 30 m charts for eurusd (i tried only with this pair) alone is not refreshing it is displaying previous day’s 23.30 candle
since it is a standard time frame, i opened new chart and applied “modified tymen not 5” template but the price are not reflecting in it.
How did you open the 30 minute chart? Don’t open it through File -> Open Offline.
The 30 minute time frame is a normal chart, open it through File -> New Chart.
yes i opened in the same way as you have mentioned in the video.
File -> New Chart for 30 min and 1 hour. 1 hour i am getting it perfectly, only 30 mins chart is the problem.
Dodge:
When i open the file it says, The compressed (zipped) folder is invalid or corruped.
Please advise.
Regards,
Muthu.

Is the 30 minute chart broken for all pairs, or just one?
I created a new zip, hopefully this one works better.
Period Converter Fixed.zip (15.6 KB)
i tried with eurusd. will try with other pairs and let you know when i reach home.
Hello, I am back.
Very tired after yesterday’s holiday.
Please forgive me - I am very old and getting older.
Age does these things to you.
This thread is running fast again but I have caught up.
I am glad that Starc band thing with MT4 is solved.
I am also glad I put that disclaimer in the PDF about MT4!!
I did not know that getting a simple price chart could be so complicated!!
As to the communication prospect, I am a computer ignoramus.
I can do only the basic things - like updating Acrobat!!
So I will leave it to you people to work out the best contact system, then I will follow.
I notice that “download skype” appears on that thingy on Merchanprince’s posts.
I could download that - but do you need a microphone or something??
And where do you plug such a thing into your computer??
Do I solder it to the circuit board??
Otherwise, emails are good.
We also have that device that is specially designed to make contacts of this sort - the telephone!!
I am now going to devote the rest of this time to fixing up the rest of the PDF. The new and final PDF is my highest priority!!
Dodge, the problem exist still.
Hi Tyman, not only am I brand new to forex but also to chat rooms,I just hope that I am doing this correctly, what I should like to ask you is Where may I find out more on stark bands, and how may I attach them to the MT4 platform that I am trying to master,or should I be trying another type of platform.I have also found your piece on candlesticks(part 2),where would I find part 1 as I should like to read it,thanks for your help with this, kind regards,Andrew.

You’re right. There is something wrong with the site. I have confirmed the zip file opens on multiple computers if I e-mail it to myself, but downloading from this forum it doesn’t work
Hopefully they’ll have it fixed soon.

You will probably have a microphone socket on your computer/laptop somewhere, near to a headphone socket if you know where that is?
There might be a little symbol looking like that ^^^
