The rookiest of rookie questions

Hi Guys

I wasn’t going to post for a while, i’ve been reading like crazy and have 3 or 4 different systems all lined up for testing on a demo accounts. So far, I have been using FX Trading Station II which I like, its nice, but a lot of the files and stuff I see about are for MT4, so I went to give it a go.

Setup - watched my indicators, entered a trade…then disaster!

I couldn’t seem to close out my position? On FXTS I just click the trade, select close position and it closes, but everytime I seemed to do that on MT4 I ended up with a number of open buy and sell positions, and couldn’t seem to close any of them out.

Can anyone tell me where the big red button is that I seem to have missed?

Regards
Col

Hmm, it should be right click the trade in the order window, select close order then confirm.

I’ve never had probs closing an mt4 trade.

Try using the script I’m attaching here (unzip it to your ‘mt4/experts/scripts’ folder then restart mt4).

To use it, drag it from the navigator window inside mt4 onto the relevant chart. It will then close all open and pending orders.

close.zip (2.2 KB)

I never fail to close position in MT4 also…

if you keep getting same issue, get someone who know to sit beside you & show you, it would be easiest for you to see what you have done wrongly…

It sounds to me like a mere interface issue. Just right click the open trade and close it out…alternatively, you can modify trade to change units to less (taking some off the table to lock in profits).

I think your question highlights the need for traders to fully understand their chosen trading platform inside out.

I think MT4 needs a big red button.
