The Ten Commandments of Forex

Hey all…

I my pursuit of the perfect Forex system I have devised what I feel are the ten things to remember when Forex trading. This is the type of thing I would keep above my desk at all times to remind me of what I should or shouldnt be doing. I find these things to be of particular relevance when markets are moving fast or your losing money and emotions are running high.

Hoping for any input as to anything left out that would take precedence over what I put in

Of course I tried to make it in a light hearted format that keeps things fun (for me) and dont mean any disrespect to anyones closely held beliefs

Without further adieu:

The Ten Commandments Of Forex

1. The trend is sacred thou shalt never trade against it
2. Thou shalt trade according to the system for it is the word of the Forex
3. If the Forex givith not clear signals then shalt thou wait on the sidelines
4. Thou shalt set your stops and keep them holy
5. Thou shalt never trade on emotion especially greed for it is evil
6. Thou shalt never gamble trade for this is a sign of greed
7. Major news events are evil thou shalt never trade during these evil times
8. Thou shalt never listen to pundits as they are often false Prophets
9. Thou shalt give 1% of thy earnings to charity in honor of the great Forex
10.Thou shalt have fun in thy trading and rejoice in it even whilst losing thine ass

Commandment 0:

Thou shalt have thine own Commandments and not necessarily follow the Commandments of other traders.

Unless one sees it, as many do, me included, as just another business

Tony

Thanks for the input

The system Im making is very conservative (as youve surely recognized) no more market obsessions for me thank you very muchbeen there done that got the T-shirt wont go back.

As to charity, with my personality I have a tendency to obsess on things hence my Charity and Having Fun stuff…making money becomes just that making money ho-hum what shall I go out and buy today …verbally beating someone up over a five or ten dollar mistake that sort of thing…(Basically becoming an arrogant unhappy shmuck)as stated above

By adding certain elements (and the 1% is the very very low end, trust me) of charity and fun I can tell myself its not just for the money but because I need to help those cancer kids" so I better keep it straight, do my homework fly right and by all means keep light have a good time and laugh at your mistakes…this probably sounds very very sappy but it works for me

PS: spent most of 04 in the lovely land of OZ (sid) got much of my sailing skills there and gave me the idea to buy the boat…

Good for you. Important to have some broader goals and interests. If you liked Sydney for the sailing you would love having the Indian Ocean on your doorstep here in the West. Never bought the boat, prefer to borrow a friends!

Sid was great but a little too “Glitz” for a Colorado country boy like myself, Melborne was more “me” but all I talked to then and since told/tell me that Perth is the best…most Entrepreneurial of the Aussie cities and most laid back…maybe when I skid the canal in a fews months I’ll bounce off the easter and just keep head’in west (pictures of Tony rolling eyes and thinking “jus what we need, another yank”)

 1. Major news events are evil thou shalt never trade during these evil times

I don’t think important news are evil, because i heard many traders profit a lot from the news.

but your other commandments are very useful!

yea number 7 is definitely wrong man… you gotta learn how to harness the non-farm payroll and that alone generates very great moves
