Hi everyone i just wanted to gather your perspective and opinion on the idea of K-Waves. i have been reading a book about EW, and it discusses Nikolai Kondratiev who is the founder of the k-wave.
if you haven’t researched into him he is an interesting man.
anyways just here to gather some opinions, on his theory and if you believe in it
Hey! That’s such an intriguing topic. It always get me thinking about how economics can have these long, repeating cycles beyond the usual ups and downs. I haven’t dug super deep into his work yet, but from what I’ve read, the idea that economies move in these 40-60 year waves kind of makes sense when you look at history patterns like technological revolutions or major shifts in industry. It’s definitely not something everyone agrees on but I find it cool to consider because it adds a bigger-picture perspective to how we understand markets and growth. What’s your take so far?
hi @eleanorkim , yes i know very interesting and specific.
your right they tend to move 40-60 years in a sinusoidal (wave) like pattern. His theroy is correct, but flawed like anything in life .
for instance, some believe we are in the sixth wave that started in 2005. I do believe this to some extent.
this sixth wave can consist of the introduction to AI (chatgpt) ASI (Artificial super intelligence), advancement of health-care (new cures) and potentially energy (nuclear ect…) , In my opinion that is the sixth wave.
Kondratieff’s theory is flawed in a way that the future is unpredictable for example no one knew about Russia V Ukraine war , or Israel V palestine (i know the war has been going on since 1970’s somewhat around there but im talking about this new spark), Covid-19. Theres many examples.
I find it interesting how he was once a communist and was researching in a capitalist point of view, he got executed because of this.
these waves reflect the business cycle, i always like researching economists and mathematicians that have some involement with the economy or trading
It seems the consensus here is that Kondratiev Waves are fascinating but perhaps a bit abstract for practical, day-to-day trading. Has anyone actually found a way to integrate K-wave analysis into their shorter-term or even medium-term trading strategies, or is it mostly a framework for very long-term economic forecasting
I feel sure that they’re every bit as reliable, objective, straightforward, realistic, practical and helpful as astrology Elliott waves. The question in my mind, though, is: to what kind of trading problem might Kondratiev waves be the solution?
