Trade against crowd. good or bad?

Why not? I guess it’s better to say you can bet against whales… anyway no difference.

A market doesn’t stay in a trend for a longer time and so try to measure how long usually a market follows a trend. You can also make the use of trends’ breaking. When a market breaks a range and move to another trend, leaving a great number of pips to take. If you catch it through market research, you are the real gainer by the end of the day.

Why do you consider whales as majority? they are actually very small minority

the main problem is defining crowd itself. as @SovoS said before " We do not know who “they” are, or what “they” are doing, or where to enter and exit in the opposite frame to “them”."
in betting it can be a good strategy to go against public because the bookie’s odds shows us which side of an event is crowded. also in betting when one side has been crowded the bookies increasing their overrun on that side and you will get less value on that side. so if you always bet on such unfair odds then surely you will be a loser on long run. on the other hand in trading we haven’t anything similar to bookies odds and overrun also crowd can move market in their side so maybe it is better to go with them.

Correct me if I’m wrong; since whales have the most funds, they can affect the market. But people, although the majority, can do anything.

The whole point is that we know what the banks and funds are doing - their trades affect price. And they’re all making a profit.

We also know what the private retail traders are doing because brokers’ sentiment data tells us. And most of them are making a loss.

Yesterday on myfxbook had EURUSD at 85% long. Its 93% today. Every instrument is showing a bias against USD on there, yet it’s been going up for 3 months and getting stronger. Might as well spend your money on something fun, that’s all going in your broker’s pocket

the second part is totally correct, but the first one, it depends on the market, like for example, not even all whales together can make a major pair price, for example EUR/USD, will not be effected, this is my personal idea and not very reliable.

Yeah that seems rational. Well, I suppose some pairs are harder to manipulate than others.
