I’ve read a few times that it’s unadvised to choose cfd platforms.
any idea why?
I’ve never had an issue with CFDs.
But…if your intention is to trade solely Forex go for a Forex broker - if you want to trade a range of asset classes choose a CFD broker.
Confusing the issue further there are some providers (FXCM for one) that give you real Forex (not CFDs) and CFD on a range of other markets.
Here are some reasons why CFD trading is discouraged:
- Most CFD Brokers are Market Makers with their very own Dealing Desks which create artificial prices.
- The Spreads on CFD Forex are wider than the real market.
- When your trade position is closed with a profit, your trading statement could still reflect a “Loss” as your CFD Broker could come up with excuses such as “high volatility” and “slippage”.
I realized fx cfd charts on simplefx and primexbt have more gaps and wider wicks than most other traditional brokers. which would fuuuck with my trendlines and SL.
Is it something inherent to CFDs?
affiliation promotion?
I never encountered any issue with CFD trading platforms. Some of the advantages I feel CFD has : you can have global market access from one platform, higher leverage, fast execution etc. If you want to particularly trade on Forex pairs then I would suggest you to go with the best Forex brokers. There is a long list of legit Forex brokers - you have to choose as per your specifications.
