Technicality: What is Market Range?

Many asked, what is Market Range? Is it a terminology that I made?

Just google it and the answer is bellow

Market Range

Market range is the difference between the highest and lowest price of a market over a specific period of time. It’s a key indicator of volatility.

How to calculate market range

  1. Identify the highest price point during the period
  2. Subtract the lowest price point

Uses of market range

  • Volatility: A wide range indicates that the market was volatile during that period
  • Risk: Helps measure the potential risk of a trade
  • Support and resistance: Helps identify support and resistance levels
  • Limit orders: Defines the upper and lower prices within which a limit order can be filled

Range-bound market

A range-bound market is a market that moves between a certain high price and low price. The highs mark resistance, and the lows indicate support.

Range trading

Range trading is a strategy that involves buying near support levels and selling near resistance levels. It’s often used by beginners because of its simplicity.

Range patterns

There are several types of range patterns, including symmetrical triangles, ascending triangles, descending triangles, rectangles, and rounded ranges.

Technicality: What is Market Phase?

Market Phase has been a subject for debate.
Here is the principle of Market Phase

Since I’m dealing with two ways trading instrument, it’s not clear between accumulation and distribution. Both of them are easier to identified as sideways.
From here we have 3 phases only.

hi @TYGMedia, what are your thoughts on current gap EUR/USD. 4HR FVG.

i got in at the 50% mark

Hi @tomo22,

For me, that wasn’t a gap. It was R2S (Resistance To Support).
A gap needs 2 bases. When the bases cant be seen, it wont be a gap.

hi @TYGMedia, yes i thought the same thing during my placement of trade, however, i became greedy and thought the setup was good.

maybe writing a set of rules on a whiteboard in front of me can help

Hi @tomo22 ,

It’s indeed a GAP. Since it’s developing a base in H4, it’s a high risk.

How can we identify how risky a gap or risk in general in trading GAP ?

Hi @tomo22,

Risk can be seen by comparing LTF and HTF. when both of them are synchronized, risk will be lower.

hi @TYGMedia, this makes sense! I was wondering what your thoughts may be on Outside and inside days in Al brooks books?

he talks about how context is the most important factor for theses days and without good context they are useless.

some parts of brooks is pretty hard to understand sometimes.
