U.K. Treasury Will Not Release Stress Test Results for RBS, Lloyds Bank

The U.K. Treasury is not releasing stress test results for RBS and Lloyds Banking Group. The government carried out stress tests on the part-nationalized banks earlier this year but the Treasury says that disclosing the results “at this time may lead to uncertainty in financial markets, either in relation to specific institutions or more generally”, according to Bloomberg News. “Such instability could require further action by the authorities”. Barclays bank is the only U.K. bank that has released information about its stress test, which made them decide not to join the government’s insurance scheme.
