Not a single EA I have tried to test on my Oanda MT4 demo has made a trade. They all get the smiley face and have live trading checked but none will ever trade. (Including the sample EAs!) What is happening?

Do you have your computer (where you installed MT4) on ALL the time? MT4 is not a web based platform.
If you do have it on, then maybe the EA is set to run on daily or weekly timeframes…
I had been wondering about that. My PC has been in hibernation.
Would letting the PC go to sleep work?
Does MT4 need to be open, or do you only need the internet connection?
I’m new to EAs so if anyone could give me some more information about them a newbie might not know, such as the PC must be on.

Yes your computer needs to be active…not in hibernation, MT4 needs to be open, and you need to be connected to the internet to allow the price feeds to stream in. Your EA’s are client side meaning running on your PC and not the broker’s.
Would it still work if the PC went to sleep rather than hibernation?

It will pain me to leave it on but at least I can turn off the monitor.
Sorry for the double post, but I have a new problem. The sample EA’s work but the ones generated from http://sufx.core.t3-ism.net don’t. They do work in Strategy Tester though. Are they not supposed to work or do you need to do something different?
