What is Long and Short

I am new to Forex so please excuse my ignorance but after listening to a discussion about going long I was confused.

I assume this means a long term trade but does it mean Buy or Sell? or simply in the direction of the overall trend?

Regards

Going/Being long has nothing to do with timeframe. It is all about which direction your are trading in. If you are long you benefit when the currency (or pair) in question rises in value, and vice versa for being short.

you should really finish the school first and then ask questions about the things you dont understand… the school will answer most it not all of your questions, be asking before going trough the school I personally think you spamming

Going Long which means buying… and Going Short which means selling… In order for you to be able to soak in the whole idea, it’s better for you to go through the School and learn the basics… It would be a helpful tool for you… :slight_smile:

That’s one of the first things in the Forex School section.
Didn’t you learn anything in school? :rolleyes:

Long=buy (expecting it to rise)
Short=sell (expecting it to fall)

Yeah… the topic is located on the second page of Pre-School: Forex Basics…

And dstacey218, you will get to learn further as you go along with your lessons in School since the real concept of trading is buying and selling… :cool:
