There are countless guru’s, teachers, books, seminars, webinars you name it out there… and it’s not particularly easy getting the information you need - but every once in a while a gem shines amongst the dirt. What has been the gem that really propelled your trading?
For me, it was ICT when he said
Retail traders don’t have the manpower or money to move markets, markets are moved by the institutions… when you see the market moving, it’s because the smart money wants to move it there. With that in mind, think about why they want it there. Are they accumulating? Are they selling? Where can they get the best price?
That single quote (loose however) made me realise that i’m not trading against other people… i’m just piggy backing off the smart money, everything else has slipped into place since then.
As he posted this, it seemed it was my own toughts. Except that I was in doubt, while he had more experience, and he was able to write it clearly, while I was only starting to understand these things. It gave me confirmation that I was not silly, that I should be more confident and that I should go forward. My mind became clear and I hesitated less. That doesn’t mean that I stopped making bad trades and became profitable overnight, but it was great help.
My schoolmate. I met him after 6 years on a fabulous car and in a good suit. As I remembered him at school time - he was quite lazy, but good in math. So, we were talking, an he told me that 70% of his money is forex profit. So he gave me his contacts, I called him and he taught me some interesting stuff. Since that time I’m a trader
Came across a penny-stock day trader blog on reddit. I noticed he was in NYC, shot him an email and he invited me into his office on wall street. I saw how he scalped in 1m and 5m chart and how fast his execution was. His style of trading made me the scalper I am today. Before that I was a swing/harmonic pattern trader.
ICT, hands down. I’m a fan of many including those named above. But I believe that ICT is a retail trader who trades like an Institution, not like a retail trader.
Are you kidding me? I wish it were that easy for me… I’ve had to fend for myself I so so wish I could meet another trader up north in the UK to talk shop with. It’s so lonely!
