What's cooking?

I have never been to a juice bar or made my own that would be better, but I do buy these at the grocery store and they are good.

I used to enjoy drinking Naked smoothies. But not anymore. There’s so much sugar from fruit, it’s actually not so healthy. I’d be safer eating just one orange.

Yeah, that’s not good, but tell me you didn’t like the green goodness, somewhat of the same ingredients as Bolthouse, that stuff is good.

Before I tasted it I used to think it was plant base because it was green in color, :upside_down_face:

What to know about sugar in fruit

There are two main types of sugar in fruit: fructose and glucose. The body metabolizes fruit sugar differently than processed or added sugars.

All fruit contains some natural sugar. Very sweet fruitsTrusted Source, including mangoes and watermelons, have a relatively high sugar content. Generally, however, fruit tends to contain less sugar than sweetened foods.

Almost everyone, including people with diabetes, could benefit from eating more fruitTrusted Source. This is due to the combination of vitamins, minerals, fiber, phytochemicals, and water it provides.

Fruit contains two types of sugar: fructose and glucose. The proportions of each vary, but most fruits are about half glucose and half fructose. Glucose raises blood sugar, so the body must use insulin to metabolize it. Fructose does not raise blood sugar. Instead, the liver breaks it down.

In the sections below, we look at how fruit sugars compare with other sugars, the risks associated with sugar intake, and the benefits of eating fruit.

Of course. They were like a special treat for me. In my mind it was wholesome, healthy goodness. Same for Naked. They were all delicious.

There’s no denying that.

I really liked the coffee one with the extra protein.

In the end, the best thing to rely on for nutrients is fruits and veggies. On a plate or in a smoothie.

All of these drinks are fine, I suppose. But once you read the label and you realize what’s inside, you might wanna sip it and put it in the fridge, rather than gulping it down all at once.

That finished product looks sooo good! He didn’t waste time–he just grabbed it with his hands! haha

I’d be terrified that it was gonna rain, though.

Absolutely. I know cars and big houses are cool. But simple things can have their appeal as well: solitude, tranquility.

It would be a nice morning routine to go hiking!

You know what, though? I think it might take some time to adjust to this lifestyle. After a week, you might start craving the city. But, if you stay, your brain will adjust to the lower noise levels.

If you’ve got the tools

But, I’m still not a fan of such deep shelves. Look at the cans, for example. Those shelves are almost 60cm deep. Good luck trying to grab something in the back.

The sliding trays help a lot. But I’m not confident enough in my handy skills to pull that off. I’d rather keep it simple and have shelves that are about 30cm deep and wider. Everything is within easy reach this way.

Besides, for the diet I’m trying to have, I don’t need space for the same kind of food as what’s in the thumbnail above. I just need space for kitchen supplies, and cooking staples. I don’t need space for so many canned goods. snacks, and bottled juice.

And I also wouldn’t want shelves built too high. Grabbing anything off the top shelf can be dangerous–step ladder or not. Sure, it may look ridiculous with all that wasted space, but guess what? Less accidents. Safety first.

I went to buy some pasture raised eggs, and my local supermarket stopped selling them just a few days before I went to buy them. How about that?

I did, however, buy 100% extra virgin olive oil–sourced 100% from California and non-gmo. I’m certain I won’t be able to taste the difference, but I hope my small financial support helps a company trying to sell quality oil. Next, I’d like to try some avocado oil.

I got to wondering about infusing oil with other flavors.

Just watch the video, good Idea to flavor the oil, also I never knew that Jalapeno peppers can turn red like any other pepper :upside_down_face:

I have three types of olive oil at home: one with rosemary, another with hot pepper, and one plain. They’re really tasty and super convenient. I always use the rosemary one when I’m frying steaks.

Not surprisingly, I remember hearing a grocery store clerk telling a woman who was looking for some type of food item “They wouldn’t be producing that type of item anymore they only selling their current brand” which is supposed to be the same.

The woman told the guy it’s not the same, that’s the unhealthy product.

The clerk said the company is focusing on quantity over quality.

I have noticed the healthier types of foods tend to run out a lot.

Do you mean the organic produce? What kind of healthier types of foods do you mean?

If you do mean that near you the organic stuff sells faster than conventional food, that would be great. It means people are eating healthier and the smaller farms are winning.

Yes.

That could become a big problem, there are a limited amount of food producers who focus on organic or just below Organic types of foods, as major food companies focus on quantity over quality.

I do understand why the world must produce more food and the population is growing, the question can things be done to produce massive amounts of food without all the BS that’s in it and without the stress of animals?

The food industry is not going to change, The world needs food and a longer shelf life, that’s what the food industry claims
