This isn’t my dream kitchen, but it’s pretty close.

What’s missing is the double large wall ovens, and a foot pedal for that sink in the island.

Also, this kitchen doesn’t seem to have a vent above the stove. Without it, the smoke just dissipates throughout the house.

Actually, I just realized I like this kitchen so much because of the stovetop in the island.

Also, I prefer an open shelf system as opposed to cabinets.

I guess it’s further from my dream kitchen than I thought. But it’s still really nice.

This kitchen I like better. While both have great stovetops in the island, this kitchen has the double large wall ovens AND a microwave. There’s also a vent above the stove.

One feature I’d like to add is a dedicated wok burner.

This station is outdoors, but it could work indoors, as well.

I think I have to give up my dream of having a restaurant-grade wok burner.

Those gas lines probably aren’t even available for residences. Besides, I’ve seen lots of people online cooking great food in a wok at home on a conventional gas line. If it’s fine for them, I’m sure it’ll be suitable for me.

However, one way around that is a gas tank.

I honestly wasn’t sure whether to post this link here or in the “US Politics” thread(!), but on the (maybe dubious) grounds that “you are what you eat,” I thought a few people here might be interested, in the current culinary/political climate, to take a look at the steak orders of 17 US Presidents. :sweat_smile:

In some countries, there’s no gas line infrastructure, and they use gas tanks instead.

They either go buy them as needed, or subscribe to a delivery service. The problem is that they sometimes finish in the middle of preparing a meal. In Egypt, however, (if I understand this correctly) another problem is that the gas tanks are subsidized.

Egypt, since around 2014 (the date of the article), has been in the process of building and expanding its gas infrastructure.

The World Bank has supported the expansion of the grid since 2008 with the Egypt Natural Gas Connection project, which has connected 355,000 consumers to the grid in the Greater Cairo area.

The government stands to save about US$200 in subsidies a year for every household connected.

Asia has a bit of a different story…

Using gas for cooking is a concept that took Asia by storm a few years ago. Aggressive marketing campaigns by the gas lobby portrayed gas as a clean and cheap fuel. However, the idea of using gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for cooking is short-sighted.

One of this article’s arguements is that compared to gas, electric alternatives are more efficient and healthier.

I picked up a chicken quesadilla from the supermarket. Once home, I read the nutrition label, and it has 68% of sodium DV.

That means after eating this, I have to be careful how much sodium I consume for the rest of the day. And I should also consider how much sodium I’ve already consumed today.

Probably, the best thing is to just eat half today. It’s really important to read food labels when you’re buying food. Regular consumption of high-sodium food can contribute to high blood pressure–the silent killer.

I’m being more careful about sodium and sugar content.

Personally, I’m not in such a financial position to afford the diet I really want. But I’m being as health-conscious as possible.

It’s crazy how eating healthy is waaay more complicated than eating hazardously.

The best option is to prepare all your food yourself. This way, you have control over everything.

People who cook at home eat higher quality food, consume less calories, spend less money on food, and have less weight gain over time than those who dine out and eat prepared foods on a regular basis.

That’s something I’d do with a group. No way I wanna eat that much alone.

I can eat two hotdogs, and that’s it. If I eat three, I’m gonna fall asleep right in the chair.

No, but will bring 2 other friends, making it 3 of us, and sample those 2 hot dogs that are 4 feet of hot dogs.

EDIT: Consideration leads me to believe that I may require an additional friend; those hot dogs are quite thick, and together with the bread, I might be able to consume 1 foot.
