This article says that In Europe GMO doesn’t have to be listed on feed for livestock.

Reading some of this stuff can be scary. It reminds you that there’s so much going on with our food that we don’t even think about.

I read a story about a guy who travelled to a few African countries and he stated that those countries should lift their ban on GMOs.

The problem is that the full extent of the side effects are unknown. I think that’s reason enough to maintain the ban.

Information from the FDA website

What about animals that eat food made from GMO crops?

More than 95% of animals used for meat and dairy in the United States eat GMO crops. Independent studies show that there is no difference in how GMO and non-GMO foods affect the health and safety of animals. The DNA in the GMO food does not transfer to the animal that eats it. This means that animals that eat GMO food do not turn into GMOs. If it did, an animal would have the DNA of any food it ate, GMO or not. In other words, cows do not become the grass they eat and chickens don’t become the corn they eat.

Similarly, the DNA from GMO animal food does not make it into the meat, eggs, or milk from the animal. Research shows that foods like eggs, dairy products, and meat that come from animals that eat GMO food are equal in nutritional value, safety, and quality to foods made from animals that eat only non-GMO food.

Got it. Cows are still cows.

For me, what you eat does affect you, even though it doesn’t necessarily alter your DNA.

“You are what you eat.”

There’s no conclusive data, but I suspect all this cancer stuff and wild allergies are caused by GMO food.

To clarify my stance, I don’t trust the FDA and the food lobbyist.

Even if you did, it’s ok to have a different opinion. No worries!

The food industry lobby the FDA to approve harmful chemicals in American food as safe; we have already discussed that.

Yup. Lots of good info!

And yet, it keeps surprising me every time it comes up.

You really gotta be careful what you put in your body. Especially whatever you eat on a regular basis.

GMO won’t harm you in a day. But over decades? I think it does have an effect.
