Where is Phil838?

Hello

Anybody knows where Phil838? His last post was on Oct 30, 2009. :frowning: It’s been a month! :frowning:

I have missed seeing Phil’s posts also. I hope he is ok

He’s still placing trades from what I can see on Currensee so he’s probably taking a break from BP. I hope he’s coming back as well.

yes i hope so…

No Sunday breakout placed this week though from what I can see…

I hope he would come back soon :frowning:

ooo :frowning: I’m not sure if he is the one I see online on yahoo messenger… he did not answer any of my messages. :frowning:

Hello all!!

I’m alive and well! I got fed up and took a break from Babypips last October. Many of you will remember that back then certain people were more interested in picking fights and arguing with me than talking about forex trading, so I left.

Since then I’ve used a bit of my forex profits to go back to school, and I’ve moved from full-time forex trader back to full-time student. I haven’t had much time for forums, but tonight the idea popped into my head to check in at Babypips, so here I am.

When I logged in my PM box was full of people asking me questions. I’ve changed my settings so that PM’s go to my email and I’ll actually see them now. I won’t be checking the forums, but I don’t mind answering questions via PM. I do ask, though, that if it’s about one of my methods please do a forum search first before asking. 90% of the questions I got could have been answered that way.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing alright. I appreciate you, Czar, for worrying about me.

Hey, Phil

It’s great to hear from you! I’m glad you’re doing well.

If you have a minute, tell us about your studies.

Are you doing any part-time trading?

Don’t be a stranger. We miss you!

Sadly nothing has changed. Different people, maybe, but the same ol’ rubbish!

Good to hear you’re doing alright I know a lot of us that have been around a while asked after you.

Great to hear from you Phil!

Around here is … same same. You’ve been missed!

Don’t be a stranger

Welcome back Phil!!!

I’m glad you’re well and that you are just busy with your studies.

Don’t worry about those people! haha

They belong to www.ForumTrolls.com

Czar

I even googled your profile, found a dozen other cold ends, I almost poured liquor for you. You were going to chuck another pdf, whats with that? How does one retire from all this rush?

I’m not doing any part-time trading. Most of my trading can be done with pending orders, but it just drove me crazy wondering what was going on in the markets during the day. I’ve always been at home to monitor my trades and I had a hard time adjusting, so I figured it best to take a break from trading until school is over.

Plus schoolwork is taking up all of my time and I get too caught up in my charts and here on the forums to do both. The university I’m attending only charges tuition up to 3 classes per semester, and anything you take after that is free, so I really piled on the classes. The yearly tuition savings I get doing it that way almost equal what I was making trading forex.

I might start trading weekly charts though. The slow pace of those charts will keep me from freaking out during the day.

I’m going to try to stick around the forums a bit, too. I’m just going to stay out of the time consuming debates and arguments

I never finished the other pdf. It’s still sitting on my hard drive 2/3 of the way completed… I’ll get around to it one day, but it’ll be a while.

As for the rush, some of you might remember that I was in a really bad car accident around the middle of last year. I wasn’t hurt too badly, but I probably should have been given the damage to the car. It kind of made me realize that there are more important things to do than sit home all day trading forex.

Hi, Phil

I’m glad to hear you’ll be checking in with us occasionally.

If I remember correctly, your specialty is anthropology — is that right? Are you going for an advanced degree?

I wish you outstanding success in your studies.

Keep in touch.

Clint

You have a good memory, Clint! I already have a masters in Anthropology, and I’m going for a Master of Divinity now. It sounds like the two are unrelated but my previous degree focused on the Anthropology of Religion, plus my undergraduate degree is in Religious Studies.

I’m not training to be a pastor/priest or anything like that though. I’ve been teaching ā€œIntro to World Religionsā€ at a community college for about 2 years now, on an extremely part-time basis (usually 1 class per semester). An MDiv will open the door to teaching more advanced classes at a four-year university, since it’s a more advanced degree (even though they are technically both masters degrees an MDiv is higher than an MA… it’s complicated)

I’m impressed with your ambition, Phil.

Knock 'em dead, tiger.

Hey Phil I would be interested in hearing about how you trade with pending orders and how you trade the weekly. Is that in one of your threads already?

I always trade with pending orders and almost never open a trade in real-time. If, for whatever reason, I think price is going to fall I find a point on my chart that, when price falls below it, logically confirms the price IS falling (like breaking an S+R line, breaking a trend pattern, etc). Instead of opening the trade right away based on my prediction I’ll place a pending sell order a few pips below that confirmation price.

I hope that makes sense… if not I’ll post a picture. Although I don’t usually come right out and say I’m using pending orders you can see on all my threads and posts I always talk about opening a trade a few hours/days in the future, never right away.

As for trading weekly charts, I’ve never actually done it. I’m just considering it because of the low time commitment and the fact I don’t have to think about or check my charts every day. If and when I do it it’ll be the same strategy I always use… S+R levels, candle patterns, trendlines, etc.

Thanks Phil, I was just wondering since you said that because pending orders are what I use. Mainly because most of my trades kick off while I’m asleep.
