I hope you can see this image clearly I am kinda new to this metatrader 4 so I probably did something wrong I thought I set a buy limit order on USD/CHF as you can see on the screen capture but when the currency dropped below the order price it didnt execute why would this happen ?
Sorry cannot see your screen shot. Did you account for the spread ?
For some reason it keeps reducing the resolution of my image to where its hard to see properly, no I didnt account for the spread I thought the spread would be added after the fact so my trade would start off in the negative.
So are you saying when you set a buy limit order it won’t execute until the market price goes 2 pips, or whatever the spread is, below my order price ?
Your buy limit order will be executed when the Ask price matches your order price. At that exact moment, the Bid price, which is usually what your charts are printing, will be 2 pips(spread) below your order price.

Thanks for replying guys yeah I didn’t realize the spread would work that way I thought I had a good trade there, maybe I’ll get it right next time.
The good news is the other trade I had open at the same time on the EUR/USD did pretty good over the following hours

Yes that is a practice account so I didnt suffer any damage except to my feelings when I realised the buy limit order hadn’t worked lol
