Could injecting the money they gave Ukraine into the U.S. economy, which would be outside of the government budget and spending, cause inflation?
Yes, because it increases supply.
How about just NOT borrowing money anymore?
The best way to stop using credit cards is to cut them up.
It’s not rocket science. But debt is very addictive. Printing money and selling more T-notes is easier (and more fun) than being financially responsible and making sacrifices.
Borrowing money to get out of debt is the most difficult approach to resolving debt.
If you’re already over-leveraged, borrowing to get out of debt is reckless.
I lol, because this was my problem, I wish I had the balls to cut up my credit cards
A lot of fun until the credit card bills start piling up, but your income stays the same and you have other responsibilities to take care of.
The difference is that a person would be rejected if they apply for any more credit cards or loans and must fix the problem and rebuild their credit score.
Imagine how grave your situation becomes if credit card companies (for whatever reason) continued to give you credit cards, and you just keep maxing them out one after the other.
If that happened, you would be the US government. Haha
You’ll feel better when you do!
Not only would my situation become grave if this happens but also the credit card companies and the banks would be in a grave situation if they did this to millions of Americans, oh wait - the bail out- never mind, your point holds true
Also, don’t forget the US can print more money.
And it does.
It makes you wonder how countries can rack up so much debt, yet still have such big problems.
For example, Skid Row in California. Homeless people all over. With all the money flowing in and out of that state, they NEVER got around to addressing that problem?
There are countries that borrow billions from the World Bank, yet 2 years later nothing has changed.
How is that possible? Imagine I say my small business is having trouble, and I need to borrow $150k from you. For a small business, that’s a lot of money.
You give me the money, then six months later you ask me how things are going.
Then I tell you the money is gone and my business is still having trouble.
You’d be pulling your hair out, from the frustration.
This is a flood in Laos.
Some countries experience flooding every few years. Even in urban areas. It happens again and again during their rain season. Meanwhile, government officials are living the good life far away from harm.
How could the government borrow/spend so much money and never get around to using some eco-architecture to address flooding?
Your freedom of speech and expression does not mean freedom from its consequences.
Microsoft fires employees who organized vigil for Palestinians killed in Gaza
Microsoft has fired two employees who organized an unauthorized vigil at the company’s headquarters for Palestinians killed in Gaza during Israel’s war with Hamas.
The two employees told The Associated Press they were fired by phone call late Thursday, several hours after a lunchtime event they organized at Microsoft’s campus in Redmond, Washington.
Both workers were members of a coalition of employees called “No Azure for Apartheid" that has opposed Microsoft’s sale of its cloud-computing technology to the Israeli government. But they contended that Thursday’s event was similar to other Microsoft-sanctioned employee giving campaigns for people in need.
“We have so many community members within Microsoft who have lost family, lost friends or loved ones,” said Abdo Mohamed, a researcher and data scientist. “But Microsoft really failed to have the space for us where we can come together and share our grief and honor the memories of people who can no longer speak for themselves.”
Microsoft said Friday it has “ended the employment of some individuals in accordance with internal policy” but declined to provide details.
Mohamed, who is from Egypt, said he now needs a new job in the next two months to transfer a work visa and avoid deportation.
Another fired worker, Hossam Nasr, said the purpose of the vigil was both “to honor the victims of the Palestinian genocide in Gaza and to call attention to Microsoft’s complicity in the genocide” because of the use of its technology by the Israeli military.
Nasr said his firing was disclosed on social media by the watchdog group Stop Antisemitism more than an hour before he received the call from Microsoft. The group didn’t immediately respond Friday to a request for comment on how it learned about the firing.
The same group had months earlier called on Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to take action against Nasr for his public stances on Israel.
Nasr, an Egyptian-raised 2021 graduate of Harvard University, is also a co-organizer of Harvard Alumni for Palestine.
Google earlier this year fired more than 50 workers in the aftermath of protests over technology the company is supplying the Israeli government amid the Gaza war. The firings stemmed from internal turmoil and sit-in protests at Google offices centered on “Project Nimbus,” a $1.2 billion contract signed in 2021 for Google and Amazon to provide the Israeli government with cloud computing and artificial intelligence services.
Microsoft said in its statement Friday about the firings that it remains “dedicated to maintaining a professional and respectful work environment. Due to privacy and confidentiality considerations, we cannot provide specific details.”

We Are All Human Until
Race Disconnects Us.
Politics Divide Us.
Religion Separates Us.
And Wealth Classifieds Us.
Australia was like nope not here.
Far-Right Extremist Candace Owens Refused Entry To Australia
Far-right conspiracy theorist Candace Owens won’t be taking her speaking tour to Australia after her visa was denied due to her hateful rhetoric.
“From downplaying the impact of the Holocaust with comments about [Nazi physician Josef] Mengele through to claims that Muslims started slavery, Candace Owens has the capacity to incite discord in almost every direction,” Australian immigration minister Tony Burke, a member of the center-left Labor government, told local media over the weekend.
“Australia’s national interest is best served when Candace Owens is somewhere else.”
Shadow immigration minister Dan Tehan, of the center-right Liberal Party, had also said in August that the government should block Owens’ visa on character grounds to prevent the spread of “hateful messages.”
In July, Owens suggested on her podcast that the gruesome experiments Mengele conducted on twins at Holocaust death camps never happened, saying “that just sounds like bizarre propaganda.”
The right-wing provocateur’s Australian speaking tour had been slated to kick off on Nov. 17, with shows scheduled in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide.
She’s also slated to speak in Auckland on Nov. 14. New Zealand officials are reportedly assessing her visa application.
Her tour website advertises the show as an “electrifying evening” with Owens. “In a world full of safe spaces, Candace cuts through the fluff, delivering raw and unfiltered commentary on politics, culture, and everyday life,” it reads.
Tickets to the event ranged from roughly $63 USD for general admission to around $990 for a private pre-show dinner and meet and greet with Owens.
Owens has not yet reacted publicly to the visa decision.
The Anti-Defamation Commission, an Australian civil rights organization that was among several Jewish groups that called for Owens to be barred, called the decision “a victory for truth.”
“Australia has no place for those who mock the suffering of genocide survivors and insult the memories of the 6 million Jews who perished,” chairman Dvir Abramovich said, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
In March, The Daily Wire ended its relationship with Owens after she clashed with its co-founder, Ben Shapiro, over her antisemitic views. In the lead-up to her departure from the right-wing outlet, she had amplified a series of unhinged conspiracy theories, including one about Jews being “drunk on Christian blood.”
Far-Right Extremist Candace Owens Refused Entry To Australia
Haha
Candace Owens is awesome!
You like her?
Respect
You’ll find that people often only advocate for free speech if you agree with them.
But here’s the problem. There was the Black Lives Matter movement. Then, the White Lives Matter movement.
Mixed in with that was this:
I don’t know if this group is actually racist or not. But if they were making equally racist comments as some of the Black Lives Matters folks, why shouldn’t the White Lives Matter members be allowed to express their opinion?
Does one side present a clear and present danger and not the other?
The world is going to hell
This is gonna sounds disrespectful to war veterans, but I don’t mean it to.
Is it foolish to fight a war for someone who’s not on the battlefield with you?
Think about how many people go to fight and die, and they don’t know the truth about why there’s a war in the first place.
I was watching Braveheart, and in the movie William Wallace fought alongside his men against the English. Ok, fine.
But then you think about George W Bush sending troops to Afghanistan over the 9/11 attacks, and that dude is sitting comfortable in his office.
I kinda feel like, “Well, if you’re not going, then I’m not going either.”
Where would that leave us during WWII?
Well, their leaders weren’t on the battlefield either, were they?
Neither side marches to fight because neither side’s people wanna fight for a leader who’s not next to them on the battlefield. Problem solved.
I don’t know if I’m right. I’ve just been kicking this idea around…
Think of the battle of the Somme - almost 20,000 young lives lost on day 1
They stood with backs to the trench wall, then a whistle signalled ‘over the top’ - into a hail of machine gun bullets.
The generals who dictated that those young guys go over the top else face an execution squad - well they stayed safe.
War is dictated by the big guys, the little guys suffer and die.
The opening day of the attack, 1 July 1916, saw the British Army sustain 57,000 casualties, the bloodiest day in its history.
That’s insane! Imagine asking them, after death, if they thought it was worth it.
Check this out: The British fired 1.5 million shells.
Whoever that manufacturer was, he sure made a lot of money!
As per google:
Substance abuse is a significant factor in veteran homelessness. The pressures and traumas experienced during service can lead some Veterans to substance use as a coping mechanism or for pain management. In fact, two-thirds of Veterans experience pain. This can lead to regular use of opioids, leading to addiction.
So, if I have a high vulnerability to substance abuse due to military service, and yet there seems to be a lack of resources available to help with such problems, where’s my motivation to join?
However, it’s worth asking the question: What’s the difference between those who become addicts and those who don’t?
I remember as a child there was a man whose body seemed to shake - our parents told us he was ‘shell shocked’ during the war (ww2)
Often thought of that man - he was left to his tremors with nobody to help him - he was shell shocked.
Nowadays it’s post traumatic stress disorder - still left to their tremors & memories of horror.
Edit: 4 mins later I read these words from Pope Francis on X - couldn’t agree more:
May war be banned and issues be addressed in justice and negotiations. May weapons be silenced and space be made for dialogue
There should be no reason for any country like America to require donations to help veterans pay for services.
Exactly? How is it possible we have billions for Ukraine but don’t have enough for veterans?
How does that make sense?
I’m sure the bullsh*t answer is “Well, those are different departments.”
