My name is Reza Anari and I am a Program Developer & Senior Instructor
at Trading Drills Academy. I obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 1997, and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship from the University of British Columbia in 1999. I was introduced to the trading world when I first started working at Pharmaceutical companies in the US and looking at charts as my friends buying stocks crazy during 2000. It was not a professional trading follow up as I witnessed the dotcom crash of 2001.
I had a high level of confidence that with my dedication and past successful research and academic career, I could figure out how to make money quickly and compound that in the market. To my surprise, I kept losing money, and realized the complexity of the difficult path of becoming a consistent profitable trader. It took me ~7 years of research and investing over 40K in many educational courses, trading systems, and tools until I developed my own discretionary trading system and started taking profits consistently.
I moved to Singapore in 1999 and served as an Adjunct Associate Professor of the Medical University of South Carolina, and at that time I found strong passion towards education and training. Meanwhile I refined my trading system and turned it into a high probability trend-following price action trading system that fits the psychology of many retail traders.
In 2015, I decided to share my trading system to aspiring traders, and developed a course in the form of video lectures and webinars. To my surprise, only 5% of my students became successful by following this course, and I quickly realized that successful students were amongst those who consistently practiced each lesson and received constant feedback from me. I became very interested in understanding why my detailed explanations did not help the traders follow my system – I came across the book: “Cycle of Excellence Using Deliberate Practice to Improve Supervision and Training”. This helped me to understand the importance of Deliberate Practice, which is used in High Performance elite development, and why conventional academic teaching is not sufficient to develop successful traders.
In 2017, I transformed my course into a coaching system based on Deliberate Practice with lots of practical drills. I collaborated with my son, a software engineer and Machine Learning practitioner, and other successful students, to transform all of the trading lessons into Smart Drills under an innovative Learning Management System. Many students globally have taken my courses since 2015, and my new coaching/Trading system has shown a ~50% increase in developing successful traders, a significant 10-fold jump compared to other conventional training methods.
I am now a full-time trainer and trader and looking forward to managing my own fund, and improving the quality of trading education globally. In my spare time, I enjoy horseback riding, surfing, skating, karate, piano, and archery.
