Hello All,

This thread is meant to renew the discussion concerning MP6140’s methods of trading currency. It is not meant to fan into flame the embers of recent controversy but simply to discuss how his method can help us newbie traders improve!

MP himself, like cantaloupe, opera, and demolition derbies brings out strong reactions in people. You love him or you hate him it seems. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion concerning him and I don’t see any need to defend him as such, but one thing that is indisputable is that the man CAN TRADE. (In fact i’m sure thats what he is doing now.)

Unfortunately MP’s own thread was locked and it has now moved into anonymity which is a true shame! If you looked closely at his thread, and could see past the flowery language and general zaniness, you would find many unique nuggets of truth that are tough to find elsewhere. It’s these truths I would like to discuss here!

MP’s goal in his thread was to help newbies to learn how to TRADE, how to see the market and react to what was in front of them. He was not a proponent of a system, but of SEEING whats happening and trading accordingly.

Let me clearly say that right up front that i’m not a guru when it comes to understanding what MP was trying to teach. I’m still trying and struggling to understand much of it and as such would like any discussion to be to this end. I’m hopeful that in the future MP will find another place to continue his teaching, but until then we can carry on here.

In an effort to aid some of you who are intimidated by a super long thread I have gone through MP’s posts here on Baby Pips and cut and pasted some of the more pertinent posts and put them into a pdf. This is NOT a polished attempt to combine MP’s methods into one spot. In fact it is very rough in its presentation and only serves the purpose putting together SOME of the meat of his teachings.

Nice to see this thread Sandpipper, as I’ve been a bit lost in babypips recently looking for threads that excite me. Let’s see if we can keep this one from magically disappearing!

Thanks for your hard work, I’m assuming the line splits each subject correct. I never realized how much knowledge this guy pass along, can he be found on any other forums?

Again i apologize for the unpolished nature of the pdf. Maybe in the future we can boil it down into something a little nicer.

Yep i agree. I will need help in this as I am by nature a lurker and not very prone to jump in and do this kind of thing. So hopefully you and others can/will contribute. In my next post I will lay a bit of the groundwork hopefully, and then we can start discussing things back and forth and ignoring the flamers.

If I may make a couple of suggestions…

  1. that MP go over to Kreslik.com and re-start his thread there…that’s what TRO did. Now he has 2 very active threads for his methods.

  2. Throw the flamers ie Tymen onto your ignore list…amazing how easily that helps cool the flames…lol

I dunno if I’m in the minority here, but I enjoyed his teaching approach… I think his ban should be lifted. I don’t post here much, so maybe my word doesn’t count for anything, but whatever. Whatever issues were had seem silly and minute, not worth the removal of someone who actually gave quite a bit of effort to educate traders.

Anyone got his email address? I need to ask him something.

The Mantra:

I have posted, front dead and center, on my computer screen a simple goal taken from a conversation I had with MP a long time ago. I have not come close to reaching this goal as of yet, but hey thats what a goal is for. Gives you something to shoot for!

My little yellow piece of paper simply says:…you don’t trade till you can look at a chart, on any timeframe, and place your TP and walk away. In that short phrase you can see the very essence of what MP was trying to teach on his thread. His burining desire was to teach people how to trade not how to work a system per se. In his view a professional trader can adjust to the market seamlessly, it doesn’t matter if the price is trending, ranging or consolidating a pro trader can adjust, follow the market and profit. Definitely something to shoot for.

Forex is nothing more or less than SEEING and UNDERSTANDING what you see and ACTING on that information ---- it simply takes time to get to that point, but get to that point most can do, IF THEY REALLY WANT TO ! anonymous :slight_smile:

So how does one go about figuring out where the price is going to go on any timeframe? Good question! Glad you asked! This is (hopefully) going to be the bulk of our conversation on this thread as we discuss some of the tools that MP gave us to help us to SEE what is happening with the price.

MACD MA crossover thingie (he never came up with a good name for that one)
Knowledge of who moves the market and when.
Double Stocastic
ZZ Semaphores
Bolinger Bands
Barry’s Support and Resistance.
CCI
Accumulation Distribution Indicator
RSI
ZigZags
Bressert DSS
A few key price points
PRIOR DAYS CLOSE
TODAY OPEN
PRIOR DAY HIGH
PRIOR DAY LOW
PIVOT POINT
And a few he didn’t get to really explain due to his untimely dismissal from our presence.
Fractals

It is important to note and almost everybody gets this confused especially his detractors. When using indicators MP would take his understanding of the above tools and synthesize them together to figure out where the price was going in advance. He was NOT simply applying a system with his various indicators. He was NOT looking at a particular lagging indicator waiting for a line to cross a thingie and then mindlessly jumping into a trade. This is where I’m going to get in trouble! MP uses a synthesis of the above to PREDICT where price will go! <getting into flame resistant suit> And since he can tell where price is going he can TRADE accordingly. Now if only we could be so smart. The double breasted suit and wingtips await!

I dont know the whole MP controversy, but if so many are vouching, he must have been good.

I do use the channel, but it is interesting to see so many indicators thrown in.

No doubt about it. As stated that pdf can use lots of work. It is really really rough. In fact I almost didn’t post it because it was so poorly formatted. I really just made it for myself so I would have something to look at away from the confuser.

At the very beginning of the pdf.I told people how to find the individual posts in context which will help tremendously in sorting out the confusing posts. A few ofthe cut and paste posts are from other places on babypips as well.

My apologies for the way things ended last, but things were getting way out of hand. I may have acted hastily, but out of respect for the teacher and his teaching. He deserves atleast that.

To anyone who was offended by that… well, we are all adults here. Judge me not.

May everyone learn by this thread, share their experiences, and make long lasting friendships and trading bonds that will help one another grow as their accounts do, unless their accounts grow quickly, then may they already be ready for the life that brings them.

YES, I feel at home again. Thank you sandpipper. I was thinking about starting a thread along the same lines. Let’s make this a hater-free zone and bounce anyone flaming from the original MP thread

I can vouch for the template setup posted in the zip. Husky hooked me up a couple of weeks ago and it’s working well. Modified some cosmetics and it’s running to my style (colours, etc)

My daily target is 25-30 pips a day by scalping the Cable on the 5M, even though I’m learning I can achieve a LOT more. Husky and I (Husky did the work - recognition in order) developed a Money Management projection type spread sheet incorporating daily targets, gains in currency values, risks, etc. It’s great and I’m happy to post my version once I have it modified to suit

Hey Sandpiper,
Glad to see this thread started and will be looking forward to the continued learning. I wish I could add something additional to the thread right now but being poolside at Disney limits my abilities, so for now I am just tagging along.
