Go to Meetup dot com (not sure what the rules of the forum is regarding posting links). Find a forex group near your geographical area. Go to the meetings and meet other traders in your area face to face. Trade together if you find someone you click with

- 1 on that. There’s no way you’re going to see me complaining when i start to see profits that I earned myself out of the comfort of my home. It’s the best occupation in the world in my opinion, provided if you see it as an occupation. For me, personally, i enjoy it.
That is well said. Who cares being lonely while trading when I know I am free from the 9-5 and I no longer care for my 70 K job during this recession. I will rather be alone in Himalyas trading rather being with ma homies washing cars
It’s best to be bored at home and do whatever I like than to be bored making money for someone else. Trading forex is a full time job, the money you make will be more than enough to take a trip around the world laying on nice beaches and sipping on some wine:D
I prefer a social life that I have some control over rather than one where I’m told with whom I must socialize day in and day out.
Even if you’re day-trading forex, you still should be getting away from your computer each day. I like to get up early, trade a few hours, then go to the gym and run some errands, then back to trading for a few hours in the afternoon. Then to bed early so I can get up early and do it all over again (my best trading is done when I first get up and am sipping my coffee anyway.)
But even when I’m at my computer waiting for the next setup, I’m still being productive. I participate in online forums and I also learn foreign languages (listen to the programs right on my computer while I’m watching the charts.) Can’t think of another job that would let me do that.
Oh yea, forex also has 2 vacation days a week built into it, that you should definitely be taking full advantage of. Can’t beat not ever having to hear “I’m going to need you to come in on Saturday…” from the boss.
The problem with that is that it really depends on location…where I live, for example, is as far removed from London as you can get in this Kingdom, and you would be lucky to find a single person interested in trading - it is all about ‘oil and gas’ up here.
Sometimes you just accept that some activities will involve working alone, so it may be better to go online to find interest groups that are unrelated, for example, as a retail trader you may have better chances of finding more people to socialise with through theatre, dance, music, language, and other such interest groups…
I think that the thought that it is liberating and totally fine being at home alone nine hours a day in front of a computer screen with nobody to talk to is not realistic, in that at some point sooner or later, you will want some kind of human interaction… What is so wrong about saying that we can and do get lonely? It is a human need to socialise, and communal working is another important way of bonding - not to be so easily dismissed. Plus, if you had a difficult time ‘at work’, meaning, if you had a difficult streak in your home trading, you could not ask a colleague, or seek advice from your manager, etc. Yes, you could go on a forum, but you would be asking strangers, rather than the people that you see every day at work.

Sorry to be picky, but it is really dependent on what sort of trading you do…
If you trade standard lots (100,000 units), thirty pips would be about 300Dollars/Pounds etc.,
which means that you could have your trading wrapped up for the day in a matter of minutes…
And even after you wrote your journal, read the Financial Times (whatever), then how would
that fill a whole working day (of the standard nine-to-five type)?
No, if you earned your trading target for the day in an hour, you would want nothing more than
getting off your backside, out of the chair, away from the desk, into the world… only to find that
everyone else was ‘at work’ and you would have nobody to talk to haha So this would suit people
who, for example, were new parents, and have SUFFICIENT CAPITAL to make enough returns
and implement their family income without blowing their account…
Being attached to your trading software and putting trades on all day does not equate
to financial success and increasing wealth…
Sorry, just being the annoying ‘senior’ on these forums, debunking the odd myth… Shoot me

It’s all about what you’re used to I suppose,
I’ve worked since the age of 16 (I’m now 38) from the day after I finished high school but only worked 9-5 for around 4 years of that time the rest of the time it’s been on my own terms working for myself.
I personally love the individual aspect to it and on the good days I’m done by 10-10.30. Working for myself I’ve been on the bad side of human interaction in business too many times, and lost out financially too many times because of human error, people not paying, people stealing from you, and people (staff) always wanting more money, more time off, etc.
Trading to me is bliss because there are no people!. Ha.

I don’t trade all day long, did that when I was a noob, not now. I only check for setups once the daily candle is closed. Then I take a peek several times during day (4 - 5 times may be) but I’m trying to reduce them to 3 times per day FIX, especially at the start of every H4 candle.
About the loneliness I chat for some time on skype and spend some time on fb, then its normal life for me as I have my own private business to look after along with trading.
I hope this doesn’t come across as unwanted publicity, but have you ever looked into Social Dynamics? I bring it up because the whole concept of it is that your personal relationships don’t need to be constrained or limited by your work circle or friends of friends. It’s a more dynamic approach to meeting people. Certainly different to what we normally do nowadays, which is tweet and gossip. But idk, I find it fun. Been meaning to buy the full course myself (learning Forex comes first though, of course).
Anyway, check it out if you’re interested. Why be lonely when you can be raging?

LMAO I know that feeling. Think every newbie reader goes through it. If it’s really getting lonely day trading why don’t you try swing trading to enable yourself go out more

Having been trading full-time for a year and half I agree
Trading, would it be swing or day trading is lonely… 
Especially when you are traveling non-stop, which sounds like the dream…

The best way to make it into a less “lonely” occupation would be to move elsewhere,
I’ve been based in London for the past two weeks - and I’ve met up with other traders twice a week during the day. It’s been great
If you think that would help you enjoy trading even more, learn more and open your eyes to the possibilities, just get a plane ticket, an airbnb for the month and try it out

Would highly not recommend joining trading chat rooms to solve your loneliness tho, otherwise you’d just end up taking trades because they are, or at least have your ego involved with the charts you post!
