Back testing works extremely fast nowadays. Anyone can test their own or borrowed ideas. It’s a matter of hours. But of course, they need to know how to back test, so that their live results don’t fail.

No offence @AryaStarky, but if back testing is so easy, then why couldn’t you succeed in coding my strategy for the MT5 platform?

Even you didn’t try to read or understand it. Rather, you tried to copy /paste a description of my entire post into an AI for generating the MT5 code.

Claude coded your strategy. At least he says he did. I tried to optimize it but it fails in forward testing. In this case the optimization does no more than curve fitting, because either the strategy lacks universality or Claude implemented it wrongly (idk because I didn’t read your explanation)

When we tried to do back or forward testing either with a mql5 EA codes or via any AI tools, we have to first understand our own strategy thoroughly.

Then we should brief the details of the strategy, and output etc giving simple prompts in a step by step process, so that an AI or other system can understand it correctly.

It’s not so easy process, sometimes we have to guide or train the model to understand what output we want.

Perhaps, you couldn’t communicate with your system properly.

You’re welcome. You are right, when I code my own strategies, I know exactly what I am doing so I know how to explain it to AI. In your case I simply copied your description without even reading it and gave to Claude. He probably messed it all. But if you explained him and controlled each step, he could do it perfectly. You should try. And then you will be able to back test your strategy reliably, many months or even years back, and see if it works.
