Nine years later, we are still engaged in a War on Terrorism,
whether Obama chooses to acknowledge that fact, or not.

Right up there with Pearl Harbor I’d say, and deserved the same response. Too bad we don’t have the kind of nation anymore that is capable of responding that way. That was the greatest generation and there will never be another one like it.
Oh how time forgets. Roosevelt’s approval rating sunk to 46% during WW2 when the US was trying to pull out of economic turmoil. 50 years from now, the Bush and Obama administration will both be praised for their efforts during this time of military conflict and economic struggles.
It is fitting that only we Honorary FX Members post on this thread.
As to the above comment, my family was in that.
We went thro World War 2 in the Netherlands, and my parents were involved in saving Jews from being sent to the Holocaust.
We still have remnants in our possession as proof of this today.
About three months ago I attended the burial of a National Guardsman that died from injuries he received while serving in Afghanistan. He was a nice guy from our hometown, he left a wife, two young kids, and a town full of friends and family. Make no mistake about it, he’s also part of a great generation!
I agree with you. I also went to the funeral of a soldier who died in Iraq. I have nothing but respect for them. What I meant though was in wwii the whole population pulled together sacrificing and rationing to support the war effort. Can you envision something like that happening today?
gosh…how arrogant…why so?
you beat me to it, It is fitting that every one post here.
I encourage every one to post.
RIP all the victims and their families of 9/11…Today is a difficult day, however the world stands with you today. May the perpatrators of this horrendous crime feel sorrow at taking innocent lives…9/11 was a horrible tragedy and today we all pray in memory of those victims … RIP victims and families … WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOU AND GIVING YOU OUR RESPECTS
Don’t kid yourself. the perpetrators feel no sorrow.
This forum & thread is for the expression & participation of all members & contributors.
Your arrogant attitude on here is absolutely appalling & it’s little wonder you attracted the hostile comments & disdain directed towards you on that gambling thread.
Just who the hell do you think you are anyway?
Absolutely TalonD. They’re low life fanatics.
The guy who has been mentoring me for a good while lost a brother in law & an ex-colleague in the twin towers (Cantors). The memories & feelings of that day are still very raw, even now.
You are absolutely correct.
As is the case with many posters reading things I post on this forum, you have completely miss-interpreted my comments.
As to 9/11 itself, although I sympathise with the victims and see Bin Laden and his crew as totally evil, I think that America has made a rod for its own back.
A couple of years ago, the Asian nations were rebuking Australia for running around playing "deputy sheriff.
The sheriff was, of course, America.
As a Dutch national, I do seem to notice that the Anglo-Saxon nations appear to think that they have some divine directive to tell all other nations on earth what they shall and shall not do.
I am, therefore, not the least bit surprised that America comes in for a hiding.
The best move is to stay out of the business of other nations.
In that way you will not inflame them and cause them to bite you.
There are better ways…
I come from the Vietnam war generation.
What did that war accomplish besides sending men to death and leaving others with limbs blown off, agent orange poisoning, psychological scars etc?
The Flower Power people were born out of it - a fitting response to it all.
I remember living thro it.
Today we have the war in Iraq and Afganistan.
America now wants to pull our of Iraq (just like Vietnam), and what of Afganistan?
Just heaps of soldiers killed and maimed - for what?
After World War 2, Adolf Eichmann, the instigator of the Holocaust under Hitler, fled to Argentina.
Now Israel, did not bomb Argentina - they sent a kidnapping party to get him and then they hung him in Israel - a just sentence.
Your real target is Osama Bin Laden.
The better move is not to attack whole nations, but to get the culprit himself - once arrested, crucify him and see who he calls out to for his salvation!!
Differences in beliefs have caused more strife in humanity than humanly imaginable.
At the root of almost any war, is a philosophical difference that is being pushed onto another culture.
Christians have acted no different than Muslims.
I would prefer that all religious beliefs be left on the doorsteps, and let’s just all be humans…
9/11 was a tragedy none of us no matter where we were, needed to experience.
It’s changed the world… And not for the better.
What is there to misinterpret in the following comment?
I read that to mean that you’re suggesting the only posters deemed worthy of contributing to this thread are FX-Men Honorary members.
If that’s not what you meant by your comments in that highlighted text, then what exactly did you mean?
And while you’re at it, you might want to expand on what is so fascinating about this FX-Men Honorary member title that you feel the need to constantly advertise at every conceivable opportunity.
I thought it was simply a standard Babypips recognition of registering 1,000 posts on the forum. Is there any more to it than that?
I hate to burst your bubble honey, but unfortunately you don’t immediately develop superior powers of intelligence & wisdom or get miraculously transformed into elite super traders the second you step up from Superior Master Contributor to FX-Men Honorary Member.
I think this post deserves repeating before this turns into another ridiculous ‘is forex gambling’ fiasco.
I feel lucky that I was able to stand on top of the Empire State Building a few years before this happened and saw the towers in the distance.
Wrong. It wasn’t people who think like Tymen who knocked those towers down.
I don’t know about that…after watching Zietgeist (oh no not that again…lol), and other 911 lies type sites… they suggest that the American gov’t did it to justify starting another war according to some agenda up their sleeves. Supporting this view was peculiar evidence found in the rubble that the structure of the towers were compromised in a way that caused the towers to collapse… that wouldn’t have been caused by the planes. Also, there is a total lack of plane debris at the pentagon where that plane supposedly crashed.
Just saying…
Those have been debunked by more than one engineering firm, and several other non-governmental agencies.
I’ll find some links to send you:)
No they didn’t…
But it’s not like there aren’t rabid extremists on both sides…
Westboro Baptist Church…
That Terry Jones idiot…
Pat Robertson…
Al Sharpton…
Are they using bombs? No… But hate mongering, and racism in the name of ANY religion or god should not be tolerated.
This thread is meant to be a reminder of a tragedy. As it should be. We should never forget.
There have already inflammatory statements in it, that are nothing more than conjecture. Why is that excusable?
And why is that any different?
Does that help ease the tension?
I see where this is going as a thread.
It’s really a shame.
It was a sickening event that’s unforgettable, it was a cowardly act on innocents.
Some say the powers of B knew in advance pearl harbor was going to happen, what’s to say that some knew 9/11 was for the sake of $$$…
Let me clear up your misunderstanding.
English is not my first language, Dutch is.
The Dutch language has a lot more specific words than the English (because English includes words from many languages eg Latin, Greek, Irish etc).
The Dutch, like other European languages as well as Russian, have their words in a different order to speak out a sentence.
Sometimes the sentence is completely in reverse to the English equivalent.
Therefore, I sometimes say things here that are not properly stated in the English language and hence totally misinterpreted bringing the anger that you display.
The meaning was this…(and even this is not exactly what I meant).
It is appropriate that we Honorary FX Members who have been here for a long time with over 1000 posts, take the initiative and the lead in posting things about 9/11 so that other members with less time on this forum can see the prompting and follow suit in posting there also.
Now that whole mouthful was shorthanded in what I said.
Apologies to those who misunderstood.
Hope this helps.
