I’ve been working my way thru pips school. Very good, but I find it a bit overwhelming. Can anyone recommend a good basic intro to forex book?
The pips school is about as basic as it gets. Just go through it slowly one step at a time.
BabyPips is about as basic as it gets. You can look up videos on Youtube for InformedTrades.com. Very basic stuff but it may help if you are more of an audio/visual learner. After those, come back to the BabyPips school and give it another go.
Without meaning to sound too brutal but if you can’t understand the babypips school then try again and again then if still no success then forex may not be for you. The babypips school is the first hurdle of a MASSIVE uphill battle …
Mrchilled - brutal is fine - I get the what bit, but not the why? I’m looking for context. Thanks for the warning
I dabbled in various sites when I first found Forex & BabyPips is where I call home now, it’s easily the best school around & it doesn’t cost you a penny.
The school can get pretty daunting & heavy at times but persevere, read things a few times & if you’re still struggling, jump on the forum & ask.
I’ve seen some great analogies & explanations on here which when worded that bit differently, they just help things click in to place.
I don’t know how many members BabyPips has, but one if them is bound to be on your wave-length & boom: you’ll be progressing in no time.
Stick with it & good luck.
If you cannot get along with BP school i really doubt you can do it with something else. People comes here for two reasons, they wanna start from zero or their accounts dropped to zero.
I read numerous books before doing school on babypips and it is certainly one of the easiest to understand. I’m not sure what could possibly be easier to understand to be completely honest
The school here is certainly the most comprehensive. Take the time to demo while you learn, that should give you the context your looking for.
Hey smoodaboo, I’m also new to Forex and trading for that matter.
From what I’ve gathered the babypips school is about as good as it gets for learning Forex from the ground up. I took notes and played around with a demo account while going through the school and I think that helped me a ton. Take your time, it took me a while to assimilate most of the information but it’s not that hard you just can’t rush it.
The issue with the really basic Forex books, and I read a few, is that they just re-hash the same very basic points and are usually reading a very biased opinion from the authors perspective. The down side is that the authors are usually taking a lot for granted so you don’t get a great explanation of what their perspective actually is.
The baby pip’s school does guide you through how the markets work but they don’t belabor the points. I would say, finish the school, then you’ll be ready for a more intermediate book which means actually talking about trading. Additionally they are more interesting better books, more worth your time and money (or library card usage).
Great Thanks Gauss - much appreciated.
