Adventures in candlestick trading

Hi
you can open indicator and change in the inputs tab
Dave

This indicator is set for Tymens method and needs no alteration if this is the system you are following

I have what looks like an evening star forming on GBPJPY M30.

still about 10 minutes left so it might change

Hi Simon
good pattern, watch the BB’s and notice there is no clear up trend
regards
Dave

There was an up trend going on so it wasn’t such a good trade, but I got out with a profit:rolleyes: so I guess I got lucky on that one.

Glad you got out ok. Not a trade I would take, I hope that you are demo trading

No, I’m trading live but using Oanda so I can make risk as small as I want, normally between 1% and 0.1%, depending on how confident I am about any given trade. I couldn’t demo with the same mind set as a live account.

trading live is a lot different to demo for sure, may you continue to be “lucky” with the nearly trades
best regards
Dave

Hi guys,

Slightly off topic but I hope you can help.

In Dealbook, I have many workspaces. I have to scroll from left to right to find the workspace I want. I have seen screenshots of other people where the workspace buttons are ‘smaller’ and fit into 1 ‘screen’ without the need to scroll.

This may be because they have a larger screen than me(not difficult, I use a laptop:D).

Is there a way that I can ‘make them fit’ or is that it?

Going long today on the gbp/usd gave me a nice 200 pips profit
thats on the 30 min tf:cool: Would i have dared exited and re-entered with the advanced level? i dont know:o probably not, shows that the basic level is not to shabby!

The Basic level UM is the basis for Tymens system, and it is very powerful. The advanced level is more of an added feature refined later on in UMs development.

It will sometimes give better profits than the advanced level…but not often:D

Thanks Dave,

I’m going to limit the nearly trades as much as possible. About 80% of profits I’ve made have been wasted on nearly trades that I wern’t so lucky with. Not just with this system either. I suppose thats over trading. I would have been much better off if I had just not traded on those days but I guess thats something everyone has to learn for themselves.

Hello, sorry if im getting off topic but i was hoping someone could give me some advice. When trying to determine reversal patterns is there a particular time frame that works better than the other ? or do they apply to any time frame, i appreciate any advice.Thank you.

Hi Trex
reversals apply to all time frames especially if you trade the tymen method

Dave

This piercing pattern met all requirments ( seated on lower BB, BBs were a nice level shape) and it made it right to its take profit at the centre BB:)

Simonjf77:

Well spotted trade. It will be of great use if you could also post 5m charts with entries and exits for further learning for all of us. Kindly post bigger charts.

Muthu.

Please use websites like imageshack or tinypic to host your pix then post it here using the [img] tag. Easier for everyone to view your charts

Do BBs change as candles close since it is based on a 20sma? There are times when I look at a candle that has just closed and BB is flat above/below that candle. A few candles later, I look at the same candle and BB for that candle seemed to have changed from flat to either up or down. My eyes are not playing tricks on me right?

Many big movements and patterns involving the USD from afew hours back till now. Will try to post some charts later

Please do, thanks

A Grey area trade for few reasons. The star is Red. The wick of the first candle is bit higher than what i would have liked. The downward pointing bbs were too juicy and was crying short. Hence I still took it.
