An upper wick (missing) off the bear candle makes it the ideal text book pattern.

This pattern is close to text book and i would have traded it anytime i see it on the chart. However, i could not trade it as i was asleep at that time and i decided to grab this screen shot as it was a perfect pattern and yet failed. So what could be the reason ? ? ? Just a failed trade …Period.
The five minute chart would have kept me out of that trade. I can take a mid-BB on a mian chart that is not completetly in our favor but on the five minute chart I would wait for the five minute BB to turn up. Since it never turned up I would have never entered.
I will be posting charts again now that I have an offical GFT account and am back in the demo. Thanks Muthu for all you charts.
Looking at the 5 minute chart, the mid band never went in favor. It went flat, but never in favor. Maybe you would have avoided this had you traded live.
Hi BlackSwan & Dodge,
Welcome back. In the hindsight when we have the results in front of us, it is very easy to come to a conclusion. However, think about it. In real time, when the patterns are just forming, you see a beautiful juicy long pattern on the main chart and switch in a hurry to the 5m chart. You mind will only think of entering as early as possible, which means a flat midd bb is all your mind will ask for which was there in this case ! So I just look at is as a failed trade and as i said, if i was there when it was forming i would have just grabbed it. Just my thoughts

Ok you convinced me. Look at the five minute chart right before the candle you would enter on. Looks ok in this perspective.
Yes it looks good enough to enter when we see such a setup in real time.

Hey, is there a template file anywhere I searched a little but there are quite a few posts.
Muthu,
Do you trade the first couple of hours of the asia open?
If so, which pairs do you see the most frequent set-ups for Tymen’s Candlestick method during this time frame?
I’m learning a few other methods and want to decrease the number of pairs I’m looking at for now.
Thanks
Jack
Hello Jack,
Asia open is too early for me 0530 local time. I start trading around the same time you see this post in your local time, where ever you are. Setups may be thrown at us any time any pair and as far frequency goes, it is pretty evenly spread out. I used to watch 7 pairs, now i have 10 pairs open with 7 tfs = 70 charts to monitor. Patience is very much required to trade this method.

Hi,
You should be able to find in JoCT PART 2 thread. Search for posts since september. DodgeV83 has posted templates, especially for MT4 users. Earlier posts also has Tymen’s posts on the same. However, i am not able to tell you exactly where as the only way i can find it right now is to dig down !

The bollinger bands were not absolutely straight to warrant a text book entry. However, still looked ok for me to dive in. Lets see how the trade goes.
