So I am a 16 year old student from London with a years experience in trading, mainly Forex. Been generating small but steady profits consistently by trading in my free time. Looking to work for a hedge-fund in the future and hopefully make my own. Any tips or paths I should take?
That is so cool. I wish I had started when I was 16. I wish you all the best in your trading career.
Yes, its great that your looking at the details so early on, you clearly have your head screwed on.
@steveepperson, going by your own experience can you add any helpful hints or tips considering this is what the OP suggested. Iâm sure we could all benefit from your thoughts - you seemed to have missed the question.
I cannot think of a better addition to ones resume then a summery of your account statement showing steady above average gains over 5 years. If you could get me 20% a year I would have no problem trusting you with some of my money
Wow, thatâs really great! Really, you have a great future! For now, just keep concentrating on your learning process!
I donât think, age is any issue here! You can go for live trading if you are happy on your demo trading performances! For working on a hedge-fund make prepare yourself from right now.
As so often, youâre completely wrong. Brokers donât allow 16-year-olds to open accounts, for several reasons including their lack of legal contract-forming ability.
Good work bhudiabhavik. I also started my forex trading career like you. I was use to do forex trading in my free time like part timer. Now I am a full time forex trader. Though you are too younger than me. I am now 31 year old. But I think age is not a fact at all. Especially for trading business. My suggestion is if you are confident with your trading you can start full time trading. Or else you can do 2 to 3 months demo trading to increase your confident level.
Invest in yourself, learn, study, progress
I canât think about a superior expansion to ones resume then a summary of your record proclamation demonstrating enduring better than expected increases more than 5 years. On the off chance that you could get me 20% a year I would have no issue believing you with some of my cash. This way I like to trading.
yes simply keep being excited and going forward
Ben, do you realise how a forum works?
thats y ive got my parents so i just registered in their name but trade on their behalf
Hey B, thatâs what figured, gave you the benefit of the doubt. Wish my grandparents would have done the same when I was âpaper tradingâ the dow when I was like 8-10 years old. All my grandfather said was, well maybe you will one day, but the stock market is for rich people. Thank your parents for the opportunity. You have a few years to go, so that you can experience the ups and downs. Have fun and enjoy trading, it is a luxury most do not have, even here in the States.

I would say enjoy your youth, student life, girls
The fact that your asking for advice means youâre way ahead of the vast majority. Mine is as follows:
-
Confidence is like inflatable air that lifts you up. You can see a bit further, yet get too high and youâll crash. A yearâs âexperienceâ and steady/small profits is no foundation for hedge fund work. Not now not ever. Take a look at the credentials of hedge fund workers and compare yourself.
-
No one ever told me, but your perceptions change as you mature. Whatâs appealing now could be revolting in a years time. Sixteen, while relatively old, is a walk in a zoo. Nowhere near real experience or understanding. Take the path of least resistance. Do what comes naturally & donât ever rush yourself.

p.s. I know of no hedge fund that would hire a person with poor English. Just a suggestion.
Peace
Easily forged and potential theft-of-work. Rarely do people hire based on private records. Commercial suicide. A tenure at a respectable corporation or organisation and reflected values that resonate with a company is a key to employment.
5 year @ 20% annually? Sounds good, yet no where near enough specifics to make an investment. How many years have markets been in existence? Compare that to 5 years.
And if the market environment changes (which is does continuously) what then? 5 good years in a positive environment then CATASTROPHE - as the environment changes.
Just my thoughts
A 16 years old can handle trading however brokers need to verify identity , He has to provide documents. Most of the traders do trading after 18 due to the brokers restrictions they can get trading knowledge before it if they feel they can manage trading use any elder documents for account opening.
yh i just verified using my dadâs driving license as well as passport
girls not really too fussed tbh just gonna slow me down
