The ADX line seems to me to be almost the same as the MACD fast line. Is this correct?
They do both measure MAs, you’re right! Although I guess ADX doesn’t measure the trend direction but just trend strength. I find that there are so many indicators that are just a derivative of another indicator, mostly MAs. I have seen strategies that use both ADX and MACD though.
What was your plan for these two? 
Yes, you are right. Both these will help you measure moving averages. But make sure that you try using them yourself.
