Amazon Self Publication

Like MySpace allowed anyone in their bedroom to create and publish music, amazon now allows anyone to become an author. This has reduced the barrier to entry for authorship and led to an interesting series of forex books being published. I dont know exactly how i feel about this however and would be interested in input.

A lot of these books are not even properly edited let alone have a coherent point. They are however for the most part only a couple of dollars so its no big deal.

I was wondering. Does anyone else read these e-books? Do you think there is value in them?

I really love that anyone can write and publish a book now. I just cant help but feel amazon has a duty to protect its customers from people publishing real cr@p. I also realise that the statement “real cr@p” is a subjective assesment and its not right either for amazon to censor or judge what should be consumed by its customers. Im torn and I dont even know why!

Not an easy thing to do writing is must I say.

Amazon self publishing is not new. But I share your opinion that there are a lot of sh!t books. You need to read the reviews before buyin somethink. I also think that a lot of useful things about forex is shared for free on internet so you don’t need really to buy something.

Agree with it but if you but it somehow it has a different scent.

You mean “if you buy* it somehow it has a different scent”?

That’s right, because people pay more attention to stuff that they pay for it. If you got something for free then you think that’s not so important as you pay for the same thing.

Yeah. Sorry homophonic words.

Someone actually made this exact complaint on amazon and all i could think was that is what the reviews are for. In saying that i still feel for the new un-reviewed books there should be someone between me and some of this absolute c@ck. For the books with reviews most dont understand what the word objective means. I was going to suggest that they did something like make a book be free until its has good reviews, but even this is ripe for abuse.

I have not read any but I think the secret is to approach everything ebooks included with an open mind. When I first started I looked at this beginner day trading strategy. It was free so I figured what the heck. I found to have value for me even though they were offering a paid extension, I decided not to take it based on info they were given. With a little experience and better understanding, under my belt, I still would not pay for the extension, but the difference between now and then, is then I didn’t take it cause I wasn’t sure if it was worth the money, where as now I know it wasn’t worth the money. But I would now change my opinion on value of the free course to a tremendous amount of value for the free one. Every trade I take today, is based on the free course. On the other side I paid for a price action course that was junk then and is junk now with no value then and even less now.

So I think the key is keep an open mind.
