Something that has been running around my brain for some time - America IS great.
Many years ago some of my family left Ireland accompanied with neighbours to make a new life in the US.
Their first sight was the Statue of Liberty, on Ellis Island they were processed, the formalities were minimal, long before ICE.
Those migrants, along with many others from all over the world knuckled down, worked hard and built on a foundation that was already laid by the founding fathers.
So what did they build?
Well they built big things, the sky scrapers of NYC, the bridges of LA, the missions to the moon…
They also built small things that make America great - standing outside the Disney shop in Times Square (wife and daughter in shopping as usual) I opened a water bottle. The lid went to the ground and spun around the sidewalk -lost.
Within seconds a smiling teen handed me the lid.
