Any students around here?!

Hey guys,

I’m an economics student, third semester now, and I was just wondering whether there are more of us. If so, where and what do you study, and in how far is trading a relevant topic there? I talked to a few mates and we realized at how many universities trading is not really something that students get in contact with…

Do you maybe know any trading or investment clubs at your university?

looking forward to a nice discussion!

im an economics student, just transferring over from a community college. northern california. my economics professor talked about futures quite a bit, but didnt really get specific with his strategy/system.

I just graduated if that counts??? I am from England. X

If you guys learned about Supply and Demand then you got something you can use in trading. I had to pick it up on the streets.

Feel like I have just locked in my first big fish and have my trailing stop loss reeling my profits
Finally getting the hang of this
Happy bunny x

so far havent learned anything really applicable to trading aside from basic supply and demand, but ive only taken entry level economics courses so far. i chose economics for an investment banking/financial advisory career. your thread has been far more beneficial for trading thus far hah.

I’m a student of Business Management in southeast Asia…and trading for part time. There’s a lot of common between trading and business and it makes me smile every time I compared it in class and found the similarities. For example, why does a company have exit strategy? This is because when they know their company will slow or the market is saturating, they sell the company to others.Meaning they don’t continue-knowing when to give up the business. Same as trading, you would know when to give up if you’re losing. Other point is bootstrapping.Meaning using lowest resource but maximizing profit and conserving cash.Like what I did, just using $10 in Forex account and turning it into some amount of cash instead of using large capital as start up… I could give more examples but you can think by yourself.

I’m a very part-time research/postgrad student, if that “counts” … and studying nothing to do with trading/business at all! Nice to meet you all.

anyone know if forex trading experience is beneficial when applying to a job at, for example, citibank?

I think it depends what job you’re applying for.

If you’re applying for something for which some successful trading experience would be relevant, and if you have independently verifiable, documented evidence of it, it might be helpful? :45:

I studied economics at university. Didn’t really find it helpful at all with regards to trading. One thing they teach you is the Efficient Market hypothesis and its variants.

Knowing what I know now, there’s a world of difference between academia “economics” and the real world, where prices are determined by the bulls and bears smacking each others stops!
