Hi folks.
I’m very curious to know if anyone has accomplished this accreditation.
I just found about what this is yesterday. I know, I’ve been living under a rock all my life. But this is what I know about it.
Called, Charter Financial Analyst. Supposedly very, very difficult to acquire. Three part test. And it’s an internationally accredited certificate. It’s probably what most hedge fund managers have under their belt. Basically, you’re smart, in the field of finance, if you have this.
Look. I know all of us have our heads down and been trying to figure out our way to make some consistent profits in this market. This is a small niche in which to endeavor in. And surely you wouldn’t necessarily need something like this to get good at our market.
But, I would like to know if there is someone out there who stands heads and shoulders above all else, with this under their belt. I’m even asking those in management here. Forex Gump?
If someone does, boy, do I have many questions for ya.
These are the two sites that I’ve been looking at.

Hey Mike, I don’t have one but know a bunch of folks who do. So to start with you either a BA in finance or acceptable work experience. My understanding is that if you work for a Broker for the required years, the BA can be waived, but “hey I have traded forex for a couple of years” juuuuuust may not work. Also the references would not mean Mom and Aunt Suzie. Which is why most folks get these while working for a broker.
The Easiest way to make yourself reputable is take the Series 3, Series 34, series 66, and whatever your state requires if anything. The cost is around the same as taking the 8 basic ASE’s plus a couple of advanced diag certs. Kaplan has great study guides and they are not that expensive. The best thing about these certifications is that you don’t need a sponsor, and you can do them on your own.

Hey Vipe…
Thanks for that.
It’s just very interesting stuff, I think.
There are smart people.
And there are smart people.
I just kind of think whoever has something like this…is smart.

Actually, personally, I’m really only interested in that knowledge.
Like, I’m talking, not caring about that certificate. Even what kind of job you can get, because of that. Or even the money that comes with it.
Purely…all that knowledge.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
Mike
Hey Mike, the majority is about regulations, ethics “Bahahahahaha” , portfolio management, and some basics about markets. But what I can tell you as far as knowledge is concerned, it is like the Canadian Documentary on P.T. Jones, there is no secret sauce there. Also it is not about being smart so much as having a good memory, just like most certifications.
If you want to learn some neat stuff about finance go to the CBOE, and learn about options, and how they can be used in hedging positions and or straight up as an investment vehicle. It’s free, and gives the basics.
