Are prop firms even worth it?

im pretty pissed… topstep… 3300 first day they basically made me restart next day another 3k same damn results my profit goal was 3k F this consistency rule what firms dont have this BULLLSHIT? if im payin 50 bucks i wanna pass and run this account up to 250k real quick or fail its a gambling outlet i get paid good at work so i dont mind having my degen level trades through a firm but which one wont judge me for my degen self? instant funding? and if i pay 50 bucks im only getting 2k… not 50k stop lieing to yourselves

Focus on what you can control, and that is how much you can lose. How can you run up an account real quick? You may as well be gambling. Trading is based on your trading model and trading it with high probability conditions.

As fast as you make the money, just as quickly you will lose it. Take the journey for what it is and don’t be a ‘Degen’, aim to be a pro. No pro’s trade like they’re gambling.

You can’t go wrong with opening your own account and growing the equity of it over time.

Almost all the real prop firms have a consistency rule, and it’s easy to see why they have to: their own businesses wouldn’t survive, if they allowed people to qualify by running accounts up terribly quickly, and they’d be funding people some of whom would inevitably be “lucky gamblers” without trading skills.

This would also mean they’d be unable to fund people with real trading skills and form profit-sharing partnerships with them.

Topstep is actually one of the best, most solid, most longstanding prop firms, and one that’s even won US-government sponsored awards for industry.

But it’s always essential to familiarize oneself with the rules, before starting.

Several members of this forum have had funded accounts at Topstep, and some have been successful there.

Wishing you good luck there!

That’s your mistake, right there.

Would you want to fund someone who looked it at that way?

Or would you want to have rules in place to prevent people with that attitude from qualifying for funding?

It’s not really a very difficult question, is it, if you just look at it from their perspective?)
