Happy New Year everyone! Goodwill to all men and pip on earth!
This is only on a demo account. I lost a bit less than 1% (only made 2 trades). First trade:
0.7 lots at +30 pips
0.3 lots at +60 pips
So, a total of +39 pips
Second trade, I got stopped out at -20.
The reason I’m in the negative is because my first trade was only 1 lot and my second trade was 5 lots.
I dont think that counts as a yearly return when you’ve only made 2 trades.
OK, I only traded 4 months of this year live. so far I’m up just over 8%.
I still haven’t had a better week than my first week though, I made 4%.
Well, I hope 2010 is a good year for me and all Babypips members alike.
Happy new year to all!!!:D:D:D:D
only really traded the month of december so i just put my % gain for this month 20-29%
Down 17 percent in summer, froze account.Over 25 trades win pct 65 but i let my losers run and cut my winners short.I started with to much capital with my initial investment going live. The time frames many say hear was to short 15 min 1hr.Since then i moved to the 4 hr 8 hr charts and looked at a new method.I think i found my holy grail by looking outside the box but only time will tell? This January will open new account with 1/5 the capital till i get my sea legs back.(EVERYBODY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!)
I have been demo trading several Ichimoku based position trading systems for 23 days now and have come up with a system that seems very promising. 12.8% profit in 18 days with 12/17 trades profitable.
I opened a $10 account with Oanda and will trade this system starting next week. Every month that I am profitable I will add double my account balance to the account so that I will have 5-6 consecutive months of profitable trading under my belt before I am trading with $1000 and about 9-10 months before I get into the $10,000 range.
I only traded this december too, my first month in forex with a demo account. Was experimenting with the margin call and I got around 2-3 which wiped out a big chunk of the account. I was down 25%, but recovered to end up 5% for the month, for the year, and for my entire forex trading career.
So now I have a baseline. 5% per month. I plan to continue the next month with a live $200 account. Nothing beats the excitement and thrill of trading with real money. I will be aiming to get 1% per week which is $2 per week. Seems doable.
I face 2010 with utmost optimism.
newbie here, only 6months old. sucessfully avoided wiping out my first account and also avoided learning to use spell checker…
made 17% yesterday in just a few hours, but that doesnt usually happen.
17% in a day:D I’d be so happy with that. How have you done % wise for your 6 months though?
I have managed to not only not destory my account, but to also make about 8% profit in 4 months. But I don’t like to risk alot for the moment until I’m a bit more experinced. How much did you risk for this 17%? A normal type of trade for you or did you just get a bit of end-of-year spirit and have forex gamble?
This is even more impressive as I have had to use it about 3 times just for this post:rolleyes:
my disuse of spell checker is evident in my poor speelling lol.
overall I’ve about broke even for the 6months. I think that’s not too bad for a rank beginner, considering someone once told me the average noob wipes out an account in about 5 days.
Spent the first few months wasting time with fapturbo and other EAs still play around with them every now and then just for funsies
speaking of speeling, how about gramer?
" I are speeching english goodly"
well I’m a little too embarresed to give up my favorite spell check (google) just yet. I just cant get my head around certain words. If only there was a “Trade check” you could use before all those dud trades.
Your right, break even ain’t too bad for a newbie. From memery I think the official statistic was something like a $10,000 account lasting 5 days. Thats why I’m quite proud of making 8% so far, even though a lot of people here have made 100% plus.
This year I’m a going to concentrate on eliminating dud trades, spotting good trades, closing trades at the right time (all the usual things that can get us traders into trouble) ect…
Small lots, and Learn Learn Learn…
Good luck in the new year:D:D
