The Australian financial regulator ASIC confirmed that one of its servers was menaced by a cyber attack. The aforementioned attack was connected to the Accellion software, which is used to transfer files for the most part. The hackers were able to access a server used for document storing associated with a recent credit license application.
The regulator has not revealed the exact method of the attack, but it did confirm that the criminals were able to get access to some of the information on the compromised servers.
ASIC issued a statement: “ While the investigation is ongoing, it appears that there is some risk that some limited information may have been viewed by the threat actor…At this time ASIC has not seen evidence that any Australian credit license application forms or any attachments were opened or downloaded .”
The affected servers have now been pulled out and an investigation is underway.
That is really concerning. If a regulator can’t protect your personal information, who can?
@mlawson71, this is the usual “amateur” Australian Governments protection of it’s citizens private information… that’s why most in this country refused to sign up to any COVID tracking apps that proved to be useless as part of the contact tracing debacle we had here back in March-June 2020.
No doubt this information would have eventually been compromised by social media hackers and sold on to shopping advertisers…" Never let any access to public data go to waste…"
It’s a step up from finding 1000’s of medical records out the back of public hospitals in the dumpster…
Australian Cyber Attacks are prominently China’s Communist Party backed “hackers” acquiring business and government IP for their own political and financial gain…

Asians love to gamble and CFD’s are the perfect product to relinquish them of any wealth. Problem is the Asian Governments detest giving away wealth to western world players, so ensure they are on the other side of the bet… Just research the Macau Casino’s…
