Looking online - there seems to be confusing information if AvaTrade spreads are fixed or variable.
The broker’s website doesn’t mention fixed spreads at all but I did find this
Help Centre (avatrade.com)
It says they are “over market” which doesn’t answer the question (as far as I know).
Can anyone shed any light? Maybe they are fixed at certain times only?

IMO open market spreads are moving in line with market order flow volatility. So at London opening, open market spreads are very low, but spreads widen when little order flow volatility exists.
TD365 has fixed spreads all the time. Compare them with AvaTrade.
You are describing floating spreads right?

That’s right. Central banks conduct open market operations in order to regulate the money supply in the economy. Brokers can choose their own spreads, which vary according to their business conditions, while aiming also to be competitive.
