I recently came across to FOREX and it has interested me, not only because of its possibilities but also because I find it interesting. So far I haven’t got much knowledge about it whatsoever. I’ve read about it information on this website and few others but I think I would like to learn about it in detail as I realise that it’s an immense task to take on and need to know it really well before even think about going live.
What methods of learning would you recommend? I personally would probably prefer ‘physical’ books rather than lessons on internet as find it easier and more comfortable that way but I am not too sure which books I should go for as there’s a lot of them and some look quite bad.
Secondly is it something I could possibly do and do successfully (eventually…)? I am 18 and I’ve just finished school. After summer I am going to study Architecture in university so the course I am going to do is not related to trading directly. So would this be a task I could possibly take on or no chance (bearing in mind that once I start going to university I’ll only be able to study about FOREX only in my spare time)?
Thanks a lot, any additional information would be appreciated.
P.S. As a person I am determined and do my best to achieve what I want, but at same time need to be realistic with my goals, that’s why asking whether it’s something worth bothering with or not.
The babypips school is in my opinion the very best place to start your education. I believe it’s available in pdf format if you’re not one to read on the internet. Print it out, and hunker yourself down for a couple days while you absorb all the new info.
Good advise, go through the school, its well laid out and will give you a good foundation.
Try not waste your time looking for the Holy Grail - everybody looks, there is one, but it’s not what you think it is, it’s basically you settling on something that works for you.
Look at things like
Support + Resistance
Price action
Candlesticks
Try and avoid fully mechanical systems based on indicators
Thanks for the answers so far, hopefully more people will join in Would anyone recommend any specific books? Also where could I find the babypips school in PDF as I haven’t managed to find it anywhere on the website…?
Does anyone here trade on Linux rather than windows? As I’ve noticed that most software is windows based rather than linux.
Uh, no need for repetition??? Somehow I think there might be…
You’re here in the Babypips website and a lot of the best, the most experienced and the nicest traders here have recommended you start with the Babypips school. Maybe you should start with the Babypips school??? Perhaps, just perhaps, after you finish the Babypips school, other places and books will be helpful.
Sorta like finishing high school before ya go to university. Just saying…
Yes and I have taken it in. People have recommended to go through the babypips school and that will be done. But at same time I also asked for recommendations concerning books and all that as well as I’ve asked where I could download babypips school as PDF as someone has recommended as I’m having trouble finding a PDF anywhere (has it been taken down or something? As I’ve noticed some old threads concerning it).
I have looked for the PDF as well, I don’t think it is available anymore. And think of repetition on the forum like a trade confirmation.
If something is said a lot by people with good reputations on here then it is probably a good thing. There are a lot of threads for books/training on Babypips so you asking the same question that has been answered many times is by definition, repetition.
Congratulations is the best time to start learning about forex. is great to start thinking about how to invest your money and make a monthly income, even better because you can get money through college. I think the best way to learn is at babypips school, also talking to other traders, making friends in forums, and open a demo account and get use to trade in the platform and practice your forex strategies, etc. I hope you become a successful trader and good luck in college.
