Just curious. I’m about to backtest some fractal breakout systems but am wondering about other people’s experiences?
How will you handle the repainting?
I made a trailing stop based on fractals. It drove me nuts…
I was also curious about Bill Williams methods. He has some books on Amazon and stuff on other sites where he gets some pretty bad reviews of his methods.
However that said I don’t have any first hand knowledge of how his systems work. It just seems like it may be more worthwhile to put the learning energy elsewhere.
Well according to my opinion,Bill William’s MFI(Market facilitation index) is one of my favourite indicator.Trust me,the observation of volume as well the price is really necessary in the market. His indicator actually calculates the comparative volume and gives us a good idea about the relation of price action and the volume.Of course, like any other indicator this doesn’t work always but in often cases,i have found it really helping and useful. In my personal opinion nothing would be more perfect indicator than Bill’s MFI to observe the volume with price action.
A number of the members on my site have mentioned his indicators. A number of the pro traders that I know use the indicators religiously.
Fractal indicator is just like any other indicator.
We need do understand how they realy work to take advantage.
Bear in mind when looking at a breakout system that the market ranges most of the time…
I use fractals much of the time along with awesome and alligator
