I think that because its so new, its just really easy to steal money. Also i think people think that they are less likey to get caught, but there is a permanent record in the Blockchain, so it could still happen down the road.

Bitcoin has a history since Nov 2008 started by Satoshi Nakamoto. Don't know much about their Ponzi schemes but since it is in unregulated environment, it may subject to be embezzled by manipulated minds.
