Hey everyone, just looking for some Broker advice. I recently went to a Forex.com free seminar and their platform looked great. If I open a standard account with $1000, it gives me access to live charts, advice and lower spreads. I’m not sure if this is the norm or not, but I’m looking for some helpful advice. I’m pretty much completely new to Forex trading.
Much of what I’m finding regarding negative feedback on Brokers is along the lines of, “This broker is a cheater and they stole all my money and closed my positions.” I find this to be idiotic.
A secondary goal is to find a platform that will run on my Mac laptop. This is obviously secondary to finding a reliable broker, but would be nice. My laptop is new enough that I could dual boot into Windows XP so I’m not overly worried about it, but I’d rather just run it from the Mac OS side.
Thoughts, advice, etc is greatly appreciated.
I am running Oanda on a Mac and it is relatively stable.
I’m mainly a metatrader4 user but I do have something to say about the brokers in general. Stick with the ones that are mentioned more around here they seem reliable. I’ve demo’d IBFX, Alpari, Forex.com and their all quite good.
Forex.com is the most recent one I’ve tried but their a bit different from the first two I mentioned. They email you and call though so if you don’t want that, take into consideration. The emails/calls are just asking if you need help and such but heads up to you (this was only a demo too).
IBFX and Alpari were both good also. Again these are all MT4 platforms so you’d need to have it running in a VM or bootcamp for your mac.
As posted above, Oanda is also good HOWEVER I tend to prefer having more leverage; most seasoned traders say 50:1 is more than enough (which is what oanda offers) and their spreads are also quite low which is nice.
Good luck to you!
Sounds good. I was looking at Forex.com, FX Solutions, possibly Oanda.
Is MetaTrader4 an outside trading platform? It sounds like that is something to look into. What are the benefits of using it vs. using the broker’s platform?
