Helloooo. I guess one of the biggest news for the past few weeks (especially in a predominantly Catholic country), is the passing of Pope Francis. May his soul rest in peace.
But it’s not just us here in the Philippines who are anticipating the selection of the new pope. It seems like people in the US and other countries are tuned in too.
I’m just curious if it’s possible for the new pope to have any effect on any global market or economy.
Maybe not forex directly, but like, market sentiment?
I see what you mean, now.
I saw the thread-title and was thinking for a second that you meant “Does His Holiness have supernatural powers to exert over the global financial markets?” Lol, your actual question makes much more sense!
well he can at least be the reason for children price falling! You should know the relation between supply, demand and price to know it
HAHAH I mean, I can see myself asking that question so that’s a fair assumption.
Hahaha. With all the silly things I’ve asked here before!
That went dark.
the Philippines has 3 cardinals there with the local media assumption and hopes that they might be chosen, i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but race does play a big role in the highest position, in the catholic church. but impact on markets?
but them children prices got me. hahahaha
I mean he could if he really wanted to.
I’d say more likely individual stocks as the Catholic Church invests a lot of money.
He does have a lot of influence over a lot of people however.
hi @ria_rose, the new pope can have effect on the current and future market, We have to think about it, the new is an American pope, majority of Americas population believes in Christianity, if the pope were to hypothetically say some bad things about president trump, it could shift market tensions.
for example lets say next US election is coming up since majority of population is Christian if Pope Leo XIV were to hypothetically say “i don’t like trumps values” or “i like trumps values”, this could shift voters and ultimately their decision in the election.
of course I’m not sure what the new Pope may say but if he makes a comment on a leader e.g Trump i believe it can have some weight in the markets on sentiment and effect.
just wanna claim that im not trying to start a political warfare i dont have any bias
But not in its Catholicism model, I think?
hi @Jackie.Wilson I’m not too sure on this.
i know generally it will have an impact though
You are correct., All Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholics, they have different approaches.
