Can we apply our trading techniques in trading stocks as well?

Ever since i was a child. Stock index reports on local news channel always fascinated me. Hearing about rise and fall in 100 index always put me in to deep thoughts that what these numbers actually mean.
I used to ask my elder brother and he always told me that its a game of big fish. You have to have a healthy bank account and you stick on to your land-line phone all day long or you should have a cellphone full of credit(cellphones were rare and was an emerging technology in late 90’s around my area) in order to be in touch with your broker who executes your buy/sell decisions in stock market. And as for the currencies, i just knew that we exchange them from any local money ex-changer on a given price.
In later years, those business news brought no more interest to me because they were so mainstream and boring and i had nothing to do with them.
Until now, since we have come this far where we have got 70’s dream super computers right in our pockets with the bandwidth of downloading tons of data in matter of second. Businesses have become more organised and converged and I am a grown ass man with a networking degree.
The reason of telling all this story is that, since i came to know forex, I started realizing that nothing is knew, all these support and resistance, Fibonacci levels, Elliott wave theory, Bollinger bands, trends and so on… were derived by mathematicians and experts ages ago and were implemented on markets even when there was no internet.
Only technology has evolved, not the trading.Only technology has made trading more agile, handy and bug-free… I can understanding whats going on on front end/client side or on back end/server side. I can write code for a new indicator on mql4 but I am not a good trader.
And that’s what i am planning to be in the upcoming years. Because that’s something I always wanted to do from my childhood - Playing with numbers.
I am curious to know that despite all differences b/w stock and forex trading. Can we implement our forex trading skills in trading Stocks ?
Do they use same candlesticks or other chart patterns as we do in forex ?
Do stock traders analyse the trends same way as forex traders do ?
What trading plate-forms do stock traders use? and who feeds them data, their local stock exchange or some international central organization.
How do they measure a single trading unit ?e.g. as we use standard/mini lot-size system here in forex.
Do the stock traders have the opportunity to sell stocks at any given time or do they only liquidate their stocks by selling stocks they might have bought earlier?
thank you very much…

I dont think there is any major diffference between stock and forex, stocks also have candle stick and other technical analysis, some fx brokers have stocks on there platform. You may join this thread: Price Action That Matters For Beginners. by krugman25

I hope this helps.

I think the only difference between stock trading and forex is the commodity itself/price. Every other strategy and technique remain the same.

Price charts are the same, relatively speaking. Many technical analysis techniques are identical. After that, the different markets bear no resemblance to each other.

That was pretty much comprehensive and to the point. Thank you very much Leonard.
