CFTe examination/job prospects. Is it worth the time and effort?

Hello there, my name is Nicholas and i hail from sunny Singapore

This would be my first post on Babypips and before i get started, i would just like to say that Babypips is such a lovely place for newbies like myself whom are just starting out on their trading journey. Our gratitude knows no bounds!

Okay so today i would like to ask you guys on this accreditation called the CFTe. Quoting the website of International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA), this examination upon passing both levels 1 & 2 “culminates in the award of an international professional qualification in Technical Analysis. The exams are intended to test not only your technical skills knowledge, but your understanding of ethics and the market.”

My question to you all would be what is your take on completing this examination? A quick google search comes up with many differing opinions. Would it be wise for me to pursue this to supplement my university degree? (i’m 20 this year, enrolling into a local university to take my degree in BA in August) Would companies take this strongly into account when hiring fresh grads & would the job prospects be better for someone with such a certification? Would like to value-add myself since i am interested in technical analysis too.

Any input/opinion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Nicholas

What is your ultimate aim?
It’s best that you ask around your community. Have you tried that?
Do you know anyone who took the same test before?
What is the hiring climate like?
Companies usually favor those with experience or those who have ‘one foot at the door’ already, so to speak.
Networking comes out as a big help especially in this career.

From what I’ve heard, examinations like this are pretty tough so you need to ascertain that you have a keen interest and competence in TA.

Good luck
