CHART: Daily COVID-19 Cases Peaking?

While there’s been some improvement in a number of countries, but China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and others had fresh peaks in new cases today (denoted by red bars).

Scanning these charts, only four countries seem to have some grip on the outbreak: South Korea, Austria, Switzerland, and possibly Iran.

Japan and Singapore are interesting. They had a grip…then lost it.

If we look specifically at Sinagpore, they were widely praised as the model of how to contain a pandemic.

Then they started to take their foot off the brake about three weeks ago (just as the US is about to do) …

Japan was also considered a place that had a handle on it. They too started to ease up a few weeks ago. Two days ago they went back to nationwide quarantine.
