I can’t help but notice that everytime I see a chart in a blog on babypips, it does not match my chart.
I conclude that I must not be using the same time zone.
I use fxcm marketscope on a demo account, I am in the UK and have the time zone set to UTC currently.
For example, when I see the GBP/JPY chart posted 5 days ago (23rd May 2013, 5:11AM) entitled “Unlucky Break on GBP/JPY - Trade Closed”, and I try to replicate it in marketscope, well, I can’t, it does not match at all. I would understand if there were a few pips above or below, but we are talking about the entire chart not matching here.
Does anyone know which time zones are being used on babypips blog posts?
Welcome to the forum :57:
The charts traders post on BabyPips will usually be set to one of the following 3 time zones:
[ol]
[li]UTC
[/li][li]New York time (UTC - 4)
[/li][li]The local time zone of the person posting
[/li][/ol]
Another thing to keep in mind is that some platforms (including FXCM’s Trading Station) will use 5pm New York time as the daily cutoff for charts, while other platforms (including FXCM’s MT4 platform) will use 12am UTC is the daily cutoff time. If you are looking at 4-hour or 8-hour charts, this timezone shift can cause the charts to look different between platforms even if they are displaying the same price information. I discussed this in detail in an earlier post: 301 Moved Permanently
That’s why you should focus on your charts and not what others post. Just my opinion. Never rely on third-parties for anything when it comes to trading. You are much more likely to find that amazing signal provider when you look in the mirror than fall victim to countless sales pitches.
Jason Rogers since ur here i have question for you, i have fxcm live account with like 200£ and would like to open new one with around 10k, can i have both accounts on my 1 account that i have now? cuz i think on the right corner of the platform you can do that ?
If you are asking if it’s possible to have two FXCM accounts joined together under a single login, then the answer is yes. That way you can view both accounts simultaneously on Trading Station. To set up your second account, click on the MyFXCM button along the top of your Trading Station. You will then be taken to MyFXCM.com on your web browser as shown below.
[ol]
[li]Click on “Add New Account” under “Account Settings”.
[/li][li]In the form that appears, select the option to “Please create a new trading account under this login…”
[/li][li]Select “No” where it asks if you wish to “Transfer funds from an existing account”.
[/li][li]Click on “Submit”.

After you receive your new account number via email, you can return to MyFXCM.com to deposit funds in the new account.
