Hi guys! Been away from trading but I’m back and I’m confused about timezones again I’d be grateful for some input. So, I’m in the UK. I’m preparing to trade Indices, specifically NASDAQ and S&P and align my trading with NY timezones. Thing is, I’ve set my charts to EST timezone as I’ve been taught because I’m in London…BUT EST and NY are two different timezones! EST is an hour behind NY local time and I’ve always heard those markets open during NY local time but is it NY local time or EST time? I’m confused.
Found out. It’s NY local time.
Welcome back to trading! You’re correct that New York operates on Eastern Time, which includes Eastern Standard Time (EST) and Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). During daylight saving (usually March to November), NY is in EDT, which is UTC-4. For trading, align your charts with NY local time for accuracy.
